Fake tow anchor points
That's not dumb - that's smart sense for commonizing parts.
Cars all over the world are like that - they use the same parts on several different cars and they only install the parts that are appropriate for that market.
Many markets require a tow hook - U.S. doesn't - so they're not going to install it.
Same as the rear foglights - they don't install those for the U.S. either.
The list goes on...

So it is not dumb, because it is not required. So I can't tow my car through the tow point, I have a non functional flap on my bumpers. How much would that have cost to drill the frame? VW have those anchor points and they are not required.

So what is the solution? Who has utilized these opening to install a tow hook? Did you tape into the crash beam? What is the "c" hook silver metal on the left and the black foam on the right behind the front cover?
