Towing???

I have been told that you cant tow ANYTHING with the evo but you can tow 2000lbs with the STI... Does anyone know if this is true?

Ive seen people at the track dragging a small toolbox and their track wheels/tires. Wouldn't recommend more than that.

Is there anything about tow capacity in the manual? I've also seen a few Evos pulling trailers, but it's never anything big. Just tire trailers and those tiny utility trailers that probably don't weigh more than 500 lbs.

Unless its a huge load I dont see why it would be a problem, with a proper hitch and electrical hookups of course

Check you owners manual under 'towing'. After that, go out and get a cheap used pickup truck to stow your stuff in, or find a buddy with one.

It doesnt hurt anything to tow with these cars as long are you are not stupid. There are many of us that have been towing our tires and fuel to the track on small trailers for years with no problems. If you want a hitch you will have to build it or find someone to build it. At the present I am working on a new small single axle for my car.

300lbs tangent to the road surface is nothing. Look at the weight that some of the one lappers have towed. I remember Shiv and Paul coming to Hallett for One Lap (04) with 2 wheels and tires, 2 55 gallon drums of C16 (do the math on that weight) and a big diamond plate tool box.

The main thing is to use some common sense. Don't load up your buddies 4 wheelers to try to pull a pair of jet ski's out of the water. Light loads, reasonable speeds.....

I used to tow a set of R-compounds with my Evo on a small trailer before I got a tow setup.

yeah .but under 1000 lbs overall, is almost nothing to tow./i mean very easy/
he talking 2000 lbs wich is fine , any car capable to tow at least 1500 lbs.
But why would you do it? Did you ever see corvette towing ?
i wouldn't do it.
