Question Looking for expert advice in purchase

I am in the market for an Evo X... oh boy. I know it gets asked a lot, but I am in search for help. I have looked around and read up on people walking out with Evo's in less than 30K. I am truly amazed. I know I need to negotiate the sticker price and not the payments but my situation is a lot more specific than that. I can afford about $ 450 payments a month for the car and will go up some if the deal is good. My question is, what strategy should I approach here? Tomorrow I'm going out on my quest and I was wondering what experiences do you guys have. I know it is tough, but so many people walk away with good deals that I'm inspired.

I appreciate it.

Go in at September 30th at 6:30 pm and say you can't go higher than $29,500. Maybe you can get lucky if they need to get that last car to make a monthly bonus- never know.

Make sure to never give up the keys to a trade-in. When you walk out, you want a way home.

Well you have two problems here.. First the CHEAPEST you can buy an evo in the country is south coast mitsubishi in Southern California. Not sure wat the pricing is over in Georgia, but as of two days ago SCM.. lowered their price on a base model by 1k to 28,999.. + tax, title, license... So the problem is that the invoice on the car is around 31k.. So 90% of the time unless you are getting it from SCM, you cannot find it lower than 31k...

So say you flew out to Southern California and bought one for 28,999.. After tax you are looking at $31,500 now mitusbishi is offering 2.9% interest but only for 4 years.. so if you got a GOOD new loan at 5.5%(I know you can do 4.5% at penfed, but we will go with 5.5% you would have to put down 7.5k to get your payments at $458 a month...

Just letting you know it is hard to get $450 a month payments without a lot of $$ down..

If you're going to go on the last day of the month at 6:00PM, make sure they have the car you want in-stock. Having to locate a car and do the swap with another dealer takes time, and the car has to be RDR'd (retail delivery reported) before midnight of the last day for it to count for any sort of volume bonus. For a dealership to know they can 'spot' (make the deal and have you driving that night) you the car that they have in their inventory, will make them all the more willing to make something happen for you, if they are truly hunting for their volume bonus this month.

Damn, so what exactly are most people who got it for a low price paying monthly about now? I'm asking about the general average, not my specific case. Are Payments for an Evo really constantly $700+? If you add insurance to top that... I think I can make a $750 insurance-car combined bill and that's about it... I'm not so inspired anymore...

So are the models with packages affected too by this price drop? I know the GSR with SSS was going for $32k at South Coast, so now is it $31k since the base price dropped?

Are you going to trade any car in?
1. Negotiate the price for the Evo, bargain down as low as you can. Do you have any family member who purchased a mitsubishi car? Maybe you could use the loyalty rebate $500 off.
If you can use the loyalty rebate, mention this after you negotiate the price!
2. Find out how much your car is worth if you are trading one in (check kelly blue book or other reference)
3. Tell them your low range of payment and they will try to up it higher, but be firm (keep in mind what your max range is, but don't tell them)

My friend has an EVO X GSR and his payment is around $653
Hope this helps

a $450 car payment is what a $20,000 car runs. You're looking at a $30,000 car.

With little/no down payment you're looking at LEAST $600 a month and that is 72 months with a decent interest rate which you might not even qualify for.

look into buying a used Evo 8-9 .. Or even used X . Otherwise put down 10K and you will be in your $450/month payment range

I'm gonna see about putting some money down, but I won't be getting it on any offers for this month then, not like any of them interest me. I am almost tempted for that lease deal though. This almost an alternative for me, but in my situation is a lease a good option? I think about the max I can do for a lease/loan is $550 on the car. I sucks to have so many other bills to pay.

Thanks for the input, guys. I may go crunch some numbers with a friend to plan ahead for the future in case that I can't possibly work out a deal soon.

if you have that much money going out already you need to not buy the car.

There are more important things in life than a silly car.

Ugh, poor wording. I may end just waiting and see what else pops up. I'm guessing Mitsu is going to put out better deals later on, they have to. I looked around and even their next-door dealer offer me a badass Jeep with their lifetime warranty for 2/3 the price of the Evo. This makes me upset but the more numbers I crunch out and the more I research finances and how that stuff works it seems like it's not the car for me.

I find it amazing that (whether with good deals or not) they actually have sold like 8+ Evo's in the past month or two. That's pretty good by what I can tell from my area. As much as I can look forward for the Lancer Ralliart I'm not sure it's quite what I wanted.

Thanks !

Are you trying to compare the incentives to purchase an Evo versus a Jeep?

I hope you understand why that makes me a bit.

If you buy this car for the financial aspects alone, you're doing it wrong.

And I was waiting for the Ralliart, and I think there's going to be a huge aftermarket/potential for it, but I decided a) the wait sucked and b) the EvoX is much more of a car than the Ralliart will be from a track/performance perspective.
