I got 6,500 miles out of my VIII's stock tires. I fail to believe the guy who claimed they got 31,000 miles off his stock advans. They probably weren't A046's. to only get 11,000 out of the A13's isn't that bad. With proper rotation I'm sure they would've lasted 15,000.

Due to that, either the tire manufacturer warranty or the Mitsu bumper-to-bumper should cover it for you.

For the reflash, it sounds like you've got a case to try to get the car replaced under NC's lemon law.

Good luck.
There is no warranty on performance tires like this. Only for manufacturer defects, not wear.

Actually it was in the last week that someone had both yoko and mitsu on their side for tire replacement for the same thing.

Personally I ate the outside of my front tires almost to the cords in 6k miles. Inside wear like you've described is almost always an alignment issue and you have a tough row to hoe.

Now my car doesn't idle great (have both flashes), runs super piggie rich (and the TBE did not help this at all) and my seats are pulling apart at the faux carbon fiber.

Would I trade it in for anything else?

Not a chance

As far as the tires are concerned...bypass Mitsubishi, they're not going to do anything for you except offer to sell you a new set of tires.

You need to go to a Yokohama authorized retailer and explain your situation, they should have a phone # to call Yoko, and more than likely they'll give you a discount off a new set.......forget a free replacement.....it's not going to happen.

I used to work at NTB and manufacturer's would always give out discounts like this and the dealers never want to hear about tire problems......especially with the way the economy is going now.

You do have a lemon law case of your hand. To the poster that said that they can say it's just a characteristic of the car, he can easily just tell mitsu. to prove this point on another car through telling them to film a stock Evo X having the same idle issues. They will have to prove one way or another that this is a characteristic of the car. Also the fact that they have flashes and have tried to fix it shows that there is a problem that they have tried to fix and were unsuccessful and still falls into lemon law territory.

If they would just step up and take care of their customers I would be content.

As far as what the tire looks like... its almost like someone took a belt sander to the inside 3 inches of the tire. There is PLENTY of tread left on the rear tires and the outside of the fronts, it was blind luck that I cought this when I did.
I suggest rotating every oil change. The oe tires are so soft, you have to so you can get some sort of life out of them. If you don't you get the camber death wear...

As far as the flashes go, I would think you have a case for that as long as you have all the docs.

Negatory. If your car has a problem (fast/slow idle, the alignment's off, so it chews up tires, or the fuggin radio doesn't receive am stations), they have X amount of times(usually3), and/or a certain amount of time(meaning down time for your car.. usually 30-days) to get it fixed, or you qualify for the lemon law. You can hire a lawyer, or if they participate in the BBB lemon law program (look in your owner's manual. It'll tell you if they do, as well as what you can do if you have problems that the dealer isn't fixing). Doesn't mean you WILL WIN, but it does mean you meet the qualifications to have a higher authority look at your case and render a decision.

Do I have the only good EVO? I have had my car since April, have no issues with my engine (got a bump in gas milage after the flash), no issues with my seats, no issues so far with chipping (got the aero kit and 3M bra), and tires are fine.

wrong. tires are not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. they do come with their own manufacturer's warranty, but that only protects against tire defects, and failure, not wear. he said he rotated them every OTHER oil change...well if they went at only 11k miles, he only rotated them once. you're supposed to rotate the tires anytime the fronts are noticeably more worn than the rears. if the tires are gone already, but the rears are fine, then bad alignment or not, it's your fault. you should have noticed that your tires were going bad and done something about it before they started showing cords.

and for the record, i only got around 7k out of my stock 9 tires. all 4 were slicks when i changed them. i rotate my RT-615's as soon as they start to show a noticeable amount of wear. i usually have to rotate them every 3 to 4 weeks.

I had same problem you did. I had problems with my seats after 100 miles on my X, idle issues after 100 miles, and my tires had the same issue with the inside eating up. My dealer took care the seats and reflash no problem since. I am one of the guys that had issues with the tire issue. Have another dealer double check your alignment and if its ok, Call Yokohama, since you have the advan line they have special tech support for you. 1-800-423-4544. they will work with you! nice sincere guys name is Scott. ext 3881.
