thats not overspray. just contaminants due to how/where the car was transported from the port in Japan to NJ.

a good claybar or professional detail will fix it. thats what the dealership should do - for out the money for a pro detailer to show up and detail your car.

it sucks but you broke a rule in car buying - NEVER buy a car at night, new or used. especially a black car.

good luck.

wow, what a bunch of tools! How they can sell cars like that without even checking them out I BET they KNEW! retards. Clay bar will take care of it for sure, BUT would you really want that? when you buy a brand new freaking car?

I remember when my bro was spraying something outside the house, my bike was sitting inside but garage door was open, and he got some stuff on my damn bike, I got so mad! and clay bar that **** right away and it was ok.

Good luck man this sucks!

Here is what happened....

I bought a brand new 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X in Phantom Black Pearl with SSS package from them on Thursday night. I get the car, and i didn't notice anything wrong with it. Friday afternoon, after i got out of work, i notice that my color is discolored. All the parts where the white overlay stickers were on, the paint was flawless. Anywhere it didn't cover, the paint was rough, as if you sanded it with very high grit sandpaper.

I go over there and tell them the situation. I told them that the paint has overspray because of the signs and discoloration. The douche sales guy tells me it just needs to be prep'd and it should be fine. I go over to their external prep lot and speak with the cleaner. He looks at the car and confirms that there is overspray on it. He then proceeds to tell me that every Evo X in their bin has it due to a dumb *** painter that comes in to respray damaged cars, decided to perform the job in the same storage bin area with the Evo X's. The guy was performing the spraying in a corner without proper ventilation or spraybooth so all of the residue flew all over the Evos, including a $44k MR fully loaded. The detailer advised the dealership about the situation and told me they didn't show any interest.

So i bring it today, and a body shop guy is there with the service manager. He inspected the car and said that he can 'take care of it.' I told them straight up to NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT RESPRAYING ANYTHING. The car is a brand new $36k Evo, i am not accepting any kind of repsraying being performed on the car. He told me that they won't do that, but said they will need it for a few days. So i leave the car there today and they gave me a POS Nissan Murano as a loaner. I'm having my friend's father-in-law, who owns a body shop, go over there with me and inspect the car.

If i see any kind of paint damage, or respraying of any kind, i sense a nice big lawsuit coming on, especially because it was a brand new car, the dealership knew about the issue and neglected to do anything about it or even inform me of the damage.

Right now i am beyond pissed off and wanted to give a heads up to anybody looking into buying an Evo, NOT TO GO TO ROUTE 46 MITSUBISHI IN TOTOWA, NJ.

So let me get this straight. A EVO that you just bought had some paint overspray on it that happened before you even owned it. The overspray came from the paint repair guy that comes to their dealership to fix scratches on the cars and he is not even really employed by the dealership. The dealership is taking full responsability and having your car repaired and you are on here bashing their name. Sounds like they are taking care of the situtation instead of telling you to fly a kite. You sound like a sixteen year old kid that has no idea of how things work. Maybe I should forward your post over to the GM at the dealership to tell him what you are saying about him taking care of the problem. Then you can see how much help they will give you in the future. get real

That is not my problem, but why would they put a car like that on the floor? I'm wondering who will be the lucky owner of that MR.

Their detailers used claybar, the standard one they use, and some heavy duty professional one, and neither one of them did anything. Then they were able to rid of some overspray on the hood with compound and wheel and now my hood looks hazy.

Do what you want. They are attempting to fix the issue, but the paint won't be the same. The only real way to rid of it is professional grade compound and a wheel, which will leave swirl marks. I don't need the car looking like **** when it is 4 days old. Would you be happy if you bought a car with overspray on it? I doubt it, and i'm pretty damn sure that you would cause a commotion as well. So i don't need your two cents bashing me when you aren't even in the same situation.

I have never been able to remove overspray from any car with a claybar either. Maybe some people use a claybar I can't find in an autoparts store.

To the person that asked about different types of clays, there are many varieties, each with a different cutting ability.

No I would be pissed that my car had overspray on it but I would not come on a public forum and bash their name when they are trying to make things right. If they told me that they were not going to do anything about it then I would start to bash them. If you did not need my 2 cents then why and the hell did you start a thread.
