OP, you may want to log onto the detailing forum and see if any of the regulars work in your area. Actually, I think the forum sponsor does, and there may be others. There are enormous differences between detailers.

As mentioned there are various grades of clay that vary in potency. That said, I'd polish the overspray off, as a first step. Fresh paint is very soft. Contrary to what was asserted earlier in the thread, polishing doesn't cause swirl marks (and/or holograms). Bad polishing does. Properly polished paint carries the exact opposite effect.

Yeah, i just found the member who details and is local. If the car still looks like **** when i get it back, i'll be giving a call to the board member here.

It must be a NJ thing.

I purchased my Evo X from Bell in Rahway and, although the car was pristine, the customer service was horrid. Good luck with your car.

i have mentioned befor that i detail a little on the side.i would not be happy about the situation that you are in.fact is sometines a clay bar will take o/s off the paint w/ no problem.especially if the car had a good coat of wax on it already.problem is there is trim, rubber, glass, and various plastic trim pieces that the o/s will not be as easy to get off.dealerships in general do as little as they can to get by and get you out the door.they will probably not get your car back to "original" condition and i would suggest getting a proffesional deatiler not associated with the dealership to take care of the problem (at a cost to the dealership not you of course) .remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease so dont settle for less than perfect!

if they don't settle for a new vehicle for me, that's what i will do. I'll get a full and completely car detail and i'll send a bill over to them.

That has to do with the detailer, not the polishing/buffing. Doing it properly removes the swirl marks, not creates them. Not to mention swirl marks are fairly easy to remove yourself with a few hours worth of elbow grease or $100-150 or so to a professional detailer.

The stuff people are posting in this thread is ridiculous! There is nothing at all wrong with this car; the overspray can be very easily and quickly removed. Especially when fresh, its practically like wiping bugs off given its done correctly. Nearly every new car has some sort of paint blemish; they don't roll off the delivery truck directly into the showroom.

Well i received the car back today. They told me that they had to wet-sand certain areas with 3000 grit sandpaper, and the rest of the car they polished. As of right now, the car looks good and i don't see any imperfections or overspray.

Detailers polish cars every day without leaving "swirl mark city". Just needs to be done by someone that knows what they're doing. In this case, that's exactly what they'll do. They're not gonna re-paint it just because of some overspray. Doesn't even penetrate the clear coat. Should be an easy cut-and-dry job.
Of course that doesn't mean they can't screw it up
IMO it's a little whiny to call for a boycott of a dealership just because your car got some overspray on it. If you boycotted every dealer that's sold a car that had recieved any kind of damage(and I don't classify a little overspray as "damage") while on the lot, you wouldn't have anywhere to go.
