Canadian Dealers feeling the crunch?

was at my local dealer in toronto last night. Was shocked they're actually selling the MR at MSRP! be it they only stock the premium MR and MSRP being $53K. hope the 09s get here so i can have the MR at a reasonable price.

2 out of 3 trips to various dealerships and I was the only customer in the place... this is in the States though.

I have made a few trips to Ft. Mcmurray this year and if that town is slow..then I'd worry. Did my part...bought two 2008 cars-I can't save the economy single-handed.

It's taken a half a year but I think (hope) Mitsubishi Canada has realized that Canadians aren't willing to pay $50K for a Lancer. EVO X's have sold poorly here in Calgary because there are too many image concious high rollers that would rather be seen in a BMW than pay $47 OTD for a base EVO.

Thats for a premium MR, its 41k for the gsr base. Still sucks though.

And no, we cant ... otherwise I would already have an evo. They void your warranty.

From: Canada, Quebec !!
well there is a lot of fees for importing.
You see, your 33k out of the door become : 52 500$ here

33k with a 25% echange rate (1can= 0.78us) : +8000 (41k) (yeah it sucks really bad for now.. )
6.1% taxes because not build in america : 2500 (43 500)
about 3000 for import fees (46 500)
13% tps tvq : 6000
For a total of 52 500 !

Ok if the currency get better and import it yourself you can be lucky and get 44-46k but well.. still high considering you won't get a loan from us dealers (so 8-10% loan instead of near 0). And no more warranty. (even if the warranty here seems a joke to me but well héhé)
But if you wait to get maybe a used one and really better currency, gonna saves a lot !
