I'm trying to collect data on EVO X clutch problems. Seems a lot of people are having issues anywhere from 1-10k miles (stock), and others are rock solid at 10k+, even with mods and track time. Has Mitsubishi addressed clutch issues in more recently produced vehicles?
If you're up for it, post your production date and mileage in the thread. I'll put together a spreadsheet with a nice distribution if everyone contributes the information.

I'd been reading up on the mixed clutch results before buying my evo X, and was worried but went ahead anyway.
Now that I've driven it I'm curious if it's not also related to driving style, since 5th is so much taller than 1-4...
Point being, if some people aren't shifting properly, and just mash it in 5th, would the clutch potentially slip and wear quickly? Plenty of power and the wrong gear puts the clutch under significant stress, and if a driver often did it, maybe teamed with an occasional launch, could it be the difference between failure for some and not others?
Just a thought. When in doubt, I tend to let it wind a bit in a lower gear....
(IMO, That 5th is really tall!)

i definitely use a lot of care when shifting, and never, ever launch. I haven't had any problems. The clutch is weak, yes, but I don't think it's weak to the point where it's defective by design.
Not sure how much faith I can put into the "No, and I don't track / launch the car" results.
