Stock glass vs. basic glass...

Normally I guess their computer system flags cars as requiring extra parts, but the Evo didn't have that noted yet and they had to order it and come back the next day in my case. They said cars that are really new sometimes don't have that stuff noted yet. And I have no idea if they installed a special Evo windshield or a basic Lancer one (not that I give a crap about the <5lbs I might have gained).
By any chance did you notice whether the windshield changed the amount of engine/road noise in the cabin? Cruising at high speeds in the GSR with the RPMs at 4K for hours gets old really fast. Wondering if regular Lancer glass made any difference over the thinner EVO glass?

This is why you always get glass coverage, knock on would I still have no cracks but quite a few chips. 16K miles almost always on interstates will do that, LOL.

Geico's glass coverage has always been very good to me.

I went through this recently on my Honda, and did a lot of research. The important thing to note is that Mitsubishi Motors does not make glass. They contract the glass work out, in this case to AGC. In industry terms, going to any shop to get AGC glass installed would be considered OEM glass. "Dealer glass" is the term used for glass purchased from the dealer. It is identical to OEM glass, save for a little Mitsubishi logo screened next to the AGC logo. This is an important distinction because moving from OEM glass to Dealer glass incurs a large expense, for no additional benefit other than the logo.

It's probably not a big issue in this case because I doubt many places carry the AGC brand anyway (I hadn't heard of it before, but it appears to have a longstanding relationship with Mitsubishi), but many manufacturers use big brand-name glass. I bought my Civic's PPG frame from a PPG dealer and saved 50% over the dealer glass and it's identical save the logo.

Aftermarket glass is the term used for places like Safelite that use their own windshields manufactured to their specifications. These will not be identical to the windshield they replace like the OEM and Dealer options would, but may work OK depending on the application.

Just something to keep in mind
