Unhappy What should i do

So i just got a new clutch installed from dealer (ACT) and was told that my flywheel was burnt due to my bad driving habbits with stock clutch lasting only 5K miles. Should i expect same again or just leave the evo and look for an automatic car lol. BTW this was my 2nd manual car

What are your bad driving habits? Two step launches at every red light?

I can't say I've ever heard of a stock organic clutch burning a flywheel before. Upgraded aftermarket clutches, sure, but the stock clutch on the X is even widely-known as being weak.

It's one of the three: (1) Bedded improperly, (2) you do have a habit of riding it and causing increased wear (3) it was simply defective from the factory and failed through no fault of your own.

I imagine you're the only one that can truly know which of the 3 it was the caused the premature failure.

LOL, if you burnt your clutch @ 5k, might as well. Then again maybe you did learn after burning up one clutch.

just learn to drive it better, we all learn from experience. if its a bad habit, then change your habit and that is all. maybe explain to the forum what you do , and maybe we can help you.

Thanks. I thaught i drove ok never launched ok may be 2 times . Its a DD no track or abuse. But what confuses me is why they changed the clutch and tapped me with 2K and just re-surface the flywheel? Shouldn't they have rather changed the flywheel to a better one?wouldn't this be same again.

I am keeping this car because i like it even more than a GTR lol i know ppl might think i am crazy but what can you do its an EVO

no the flywheels normaly jsut get re-surfaced unless you really scored the surface up. when i did my clutch i just bought a new fly wheel since my stocker was pretty beat up. your flywheel was probably in good condition and just needed a resurfacing, but you clutch plate was shot. you should be ok just dont ride the clutch.

Does it confuse you that dealers will try to exploit you as much as they can and rack up the $$$?

actually that goes with most shops, not just dealers. i see more people getting raped at midus then the dealers. dealers know the cars inside and out (well they should). thats why you take your car there.
