Looking to get an new X dealership frustrations... Long rant lol

Ok so i went to check out the Evo GSR... this dealership was asking almost 40,000. We started talking. The manager was a huge @ss... the sales guys seemed half way decent. I got down to 31,500, with a 4500$ down payment, 0% finance for 5 years, and my car traded.... 499/month... I said no. Im trying to get it to 30,000 with my car and 0$ down since its 0% finance for 5 yrs, I dont mind 499$/month. The manager was a ***** from the beginning. He gave me an attitude when I said I wanted to check the Evo. Im thinking it is because Im 20 years old. Well ok so? I think my money is as good as the next guy, I may be 20, but have a very good paying job. ALSO, i dont want the grey, i HATE grey on any car. I want either wicked white or octane blue. I'm a nice guy, but play with the bull get the horns, I started being a real a-hole to the manager.

I was like your gunna take my car basically for free, sell it for double, and rape me on both my car and my new purchase? He's like we dont do that we sell whole sale LMAO.... Im like so your diff from every other dealer....

SO, I go online asked for a quote from mitsu.com and it sent it to all the local dealers, now the salesman calls me and was like hey if u want we can sit down again. I told him you know I dunno if I want to do business with your dealership, your an ok guy, but your manager is a moron, who doesnt know how to treat a potential customer. Just because I'm young doesn't mean I'm any less or my money isnt as good.

So he re works the numbers and gets me the same exact deal but now its 484 a month LOLLLL..... come on now.. I dont care about the Monthly payment, change the base price... I'm looking for a WW base GSR, i dont need all the fancy gidgets like the Navi and rockford sound system.... But they keep shoving that damn grey Evo down my throat... Shouldnt a dealer get what you want? after all I am the customer. SO now I'm gunna go thise weekend and DEMAND the invoice and offer 1 G over plus my car.... take it or bye.

Help, tips, questions? looking for some advice.

Negotiate price of the car first. Then add trade-in. Never negotiate on payments. Make sure you tell them up front your expectations. Its likely they think that because of your age, they can take you for more money.

Consider having your car shipped from California and sell your car private party.

Why are you even talking to these people if they don't even have the car you want? (There's probably 10 Mitsu dealers within 75 miles of you so one of them has to have a base GSR.)

You're going to pay invoice?

Read through this thread if you haven't already https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=377669....I don't think anyone has paid invoice for months

You may find your best bet is to just buy from Southcoast and pay the shipping. You'd still be way under invoice-plus you'll get the car you want. The last post I saw from southcoast on one of the California Evo sites (SoCal or NorCal) was another $500 off from what they advertise on this site, plus you own a Mitsu so you'd qualify for the $500 loyalty rebate. They're giving you nothing for your car, so sell it for a $1.00 and you're no worse off.

Call Southcoast on Friday, it's the end of the month and you could wrap the deal up in a day.

I think this dealer has you pegged..go elsewhere

Sell your car to Carmax...hassle free and they usually beat trade-in by a grand or so (maybe not on your car...it's pretty old)

Line up financing yourself from a bank or CU (Cap One, PenFed, etc.)

Negotiate a deal based on price. Tell them you don't want to negotiate "four box". I've walked out of dealerships before because the salesman literally could'nt finish a sentence without pulling out the four-box paper.

If sale doesn't work out to your satisfaction, walk. There is no rush. Call Sam at SC and buy a car hassle free and have it shipped. I walked out of two dealerships for above reasons.

Also, don't be a jerk yourself, even if they are. You are the customer. You have the money (or financing.) Don't sink to their level...be above it all. None of them (not even SC) will do you any favors beyond making a sale. Getting upset. or making yourself look silly by getting angry doesn't help you at all.

You dont care that they lowered your payment $16/month? On a 0% for 5 years $16 x 60 months = $960additional discount they just gave you. Anyways none of the numbers you gave mean nothing because I dont know what the sale price of the car is what your trade allowance is and other factors. Tell me this:

Sale price of car with options
trade allowance
down payment
tax tag title
=Finance amount.

And are you already qualified for the 0%?

Getting angry always works at dealerships... I was in your boat plenty of times since I was 21 when I was selling the Evo. The best service I got was where I was overly accepting and nice to the dealers, even BMW, Porsche, and Audi when they treated me like dirt at first. Or at Chevy, where I went in and said I wanted a C6 and they looked at me like I was crazy and said "We have lots of Cobalts."

Go back in, tell them EXACTLY what you want and why you want it like that (meaning say "I want the cost of the car to be this because.... And I don't care what the payments are because..." etc etc.

It really isn't that hard. I wound up getting 1000 knocked off the Porsche price, 2500 tacked on to the Evo trade-in value (which was the same 16k pretty much everywhere but this place, who I convinced to give me more) .5% knocked off the interest rate, and a bunch of free service and things repaired. All because I was nice, and said clearly what I wanted. At our age especially, but at any other age too, people will respect your more, if you show them respect. Granted, some people don't ever deserve it, but if you give people a chance you'll find you get a lot farther than being an ***. All being an *** gets you is a trip to the Porsche dealership.

they asked low 39G out the door, it wasnt even fully loaded, i didnt see a navi...
they said they were givin me 3500 for my car
4500$ down payment
0% finance for 5 years.
he came down to a lil over 31,500, and 499$/month
i think 30,500, with my car and 0$ down is fair.... maybe its still to much but im willing to pay that.

This economy may be an advantage to some car buyers
