i don't really know about the airbags, that's what i'm trying to find out. at the dealer by me the seats has a tag that says "srs airbag" attached to the seat, so i was assuming they were related to the seat as opposed to being in the pillar or something, but like i said i'm having a hard time digging up any info on them.
as far as the mustang, i actually want a pair of recaro sportster cs for it. but this weekend i went by a dealer and sat in an mr and i REALLY liked the seat feel. so basically if i can spend 3k for sportsters or 1k or 1500 for these seats, then maybe i'll just put a set of these in the car and do some other mods with the extra scratch. the actual seats in my car aren't bad, but the seating position is really high and very akward. they're power seats, the power assembly is tall, the seat is built tall, so in the canyons it makes for a very akward position, so i'm trying find a more comfortable seat that will get me down lower where i need to be.

I think they are made for Mitsu directly. In the private for sale forums you will find them for sale now and then. Not sure of the weight, but i can tell you the brides are lighter since the track guys swap their OEM for them.

Check the vendor section and you might get a good deal on some Brides or something similar.

Yes the X has airbags inside the seat, most modern cars do.

The Evo X seat is most closely related to the Retail Recaro Topline seat which can be seen on the Recaro website. About $1,100 in partial electic street price. The Evo MR seat is more supportive and may be able to be purchased from Mitsu.

Try Looking up for Recaro SR-11 model. I've only seen them being sold on Japanese websites but I'm pretty sure they're the same as the ones on the X.

Air bags present in the stock seats. They are heavy. Around 20-25 kg each (sorry, don't know lbs).

Why is that, is the same seat, one cover in leather, the other in cloth?

The bolsters are different from the pic of the Recaro SR11 above and the Evo seats...the evo ones look more supportive.

Looks identical to me. All the curves are the same, bolsters start and end the same, all the angles are the same... the only thing that looks different is the fabric and the fact ours has airbags.
