About to turn 26... I was initially going along the whole idea that this car is too "boy racer" and that I need to maintain my professional image now that I'm over 25.

But, what professional image? I don't drive to work, so my Evo is my "weekend warrior" if you will. Plus, I have great credit, no debt, steady job, the whole American dream. Now I can truly afford to drive something I actually want to drive.

 

I'm Asian as well and people don't believe me when I say I'm 32! Just turned recently.

I make around that amount and it IS possible but I did it the more traditional way. I saved up for MONTHS while still driving my paid-off 2001 Sante Fe. When the Sante Fe was on it's last leg, I had 10K to put down on the used Evo X leaving me with only $16K on the loan and managable ($283/month) car payments. I am married, not in debt, no kids, and own a house. One thing to keep in mind is that all the expenses you listed are you fixed costs. As you get older like me (34 years old) you will need to start investing and saving for retirement. Add that with all the unforseen expenses that come up, $480/month left over isnt' that much cash.

27. Wanted an evo since I saw Jackie Chan's "Who Am I?". If my evo needed a kidney I'd gladly wake up in a Mexican hotel in a bathtub full of ice and punch any doctor in the dick who says the blood type isn't a match.
