My Stupid Review
My Stupid Review
Drove the 135i, 2 Caymen S (yes 2 of them lol) and the Evo X GSR.
I'll keep it short.
I loved the Caymen but its a toy. I'd need a second car. Anyone who thinks its ghey has no appreciation for a true sports car. It KILLS the 911 as a sports car.
I loved the 135i but it is misleading. It needs a better suspension. It needs a real diff, a new front sway bar and its really not that good looking. Bottom line is to track it you are looking at easily 50K to get it to spec. Better off getting a used e46 M3. Tons of tourque though...
The EVO GSR easily had the stiffest suspension - even stiffer than the modded Caymen S I drove (with H&R springs, thats why I drove 2). The interior was well laid out but laughable for the plastic. Nevertheless I want one. I'm pricing in heated seats and trying to get the MR seat coverings too, not sure how much that will cost though. The cloth is pretty rediculous. If they can do it I'm getting the GSR.
THat's my irrelevant review.

You can get a leather package for ~$1,300 installed from the dealer (better than the MR seats IMO). Check the show'n'shine forum for a post/pictures about it.
Seat heaters, I can't help you there because it's not something I need/want here.
The Cayman is a GREAT car and it was on my short list. The lack of a trunk and 2 seats only really was a problem. Maybe when I get a 3-4 car garage I'll get one

I want the MR leather for the no slip alcantara. The heated seats are not a big deal maybe 800 for both fronts. It kills me Canada gets them and we don't.
I tell ya the stearing ratio on the X was amazing. With a suspension that stiff I'm thinking equal rated drop springs and this thing is track ready. I did notice and could replicate a 1st to second gear synchro grind. Nothing damaging, and only when granny shifting it oddly!

quick shifting the transmission @ higher RPM gives MUCH better shifter feel. Low rpm shifts are sucktastic (so traffic blows).
The stock suspension is fine up to a point and then you feel it's weaknesses when you start to plow, I mean push, it. But even with a set of drop springs and sway bars you have a great track machine (springs + sways are like $500).
Canada also gets a sunroof (and no aluminum roof). They pay more for the car too.

Just put it to her this way (note: don't actually do this). If you get the Cayman, you'll have a much easier time picking up bar tramps. With the 'Corrolla with a wing' the two of you can go out with a couple of her friends (and scare the ...fecal matter... out of them). But only if she stops calling it that... otherwise bar tramps a-go-go!

oh nice little write up man
The 911 will always be the "better" sports car. It is after all the definition of what a true sports car is.
Be my guest. I am not liable if you get slapped a few times and denied sex for a few months (or worse), however...
I dunno how you could come to that conclusion. The 911 still turns quicker lap times. Porsche will never allow the Cayman(with an "A"
) to catch up to the 911. They could easily make a Cayman that'd wax the 911. The motor being more towards the center etc... giving the car way better balance, but it'd be suicide to make it faster than their flagship. When the "S" came out and the rags got ahold of it, they ripped on Porsche for not making it more potent, and finished the rip by saying the the big P would never do it because of the need for the 911 to be their fastest car. Both statements gave Porsche a coupla black eyes, so they came up with the best solution they could. The new 911 got more power, and a new kick-*** transmission, which put it even farther out ahead performance-wise over the Cayman, but it also allowed them to give the Cayman IIRC an additional 25hp over the prior gen. Aside from the Farnbacher Loles of the world shoe-horning the 911's 3.8 into a Cayman, and subsequently charging what you could buy a Turbo for, it's doubtful you'll ever see Porsche build a "911-Eating" Cayman.
