My Stupid Review
Todd: Glad to hear that you liked it after driving it (you kinda hated on the X for a while when it first came out, but like many, have changed your opinion of it after drivng it/ seeing the results of modding capability). Agreed on the interior comment; it's stylish and well laid out, but loaded with cheap plastic and needs leather. Glad that you are looking at the GSR as well, because the MR is a let down if you plan on modding and IMO, a sports car should have a traditional stick.
BTW, any mitsu dealer that is part of the "certified mitsubishi leather program" can have a leather kit installed by a trim specialist. The kit that mitsu uses is nicer looking than the MR's setup IMO, because it's all leather rather than leather trim. I know, I know, all leather is more slippery than the alcantara combo, but it looks nicer and the recaros should still keep you in place just fine. I'll try to find the link to the thread that shows what the leather kit looks like for you to see...

Drove the 135i, 2 Caymen S (yes 2 of them lol) and the Evo X GSR.
I'll keep it short.
I loved the Caymen but its a toy. I'd need a second car. Anyone who thinks its ghey has no appreciation for a true sports car. It KILLS the 911 as a sports car.
I loved the 135i but it is misleading. It needs a better suspension. It needs a real diff, a new front sway bar and its really not that good looking. Bottom line is to track it you are looking at easily 50K to get it to spec. Better off getting a used e46 M3. Tons of tourque though...
The EVO GSR easily had the stiffest suspension - even stiffer than the modded Caymen S I drove (with H&R springs, thats why I drove 2). The interior was well laid out but laughable for the plastic. Nevertheless I want one. I'm pricing in heated seats and trying to get the MR seat coverings too, not sure how much that will cost though. The cloth is pretty rediculous. If they can do it I'm getting the GSR.
THat's my irrelevant review.

The real hurdle now is the gf. We went to the AutoShow 2 weeks ago and she kept at the "Corrola with a wing" thing. She wants me to get another M3 or the 135i. After experiencing the 13:1 steering ratio in the X I'm sorta hooked. Its much closer to a trackable setup than I thought (at least for a novice). The 135i has a soft suspension and runflats. I'll be $55K in the hole trying to rectify that which is close to M3 pricing. The other option is another E46 M3. Cheap to buy but expensive as all hell to own out of warranty.
I don't know. If I can get her to stop making jokes. I told her "its a drivers car" and that just got her going even worse
Besides, If you got enough game, you can pick up girls in a Mitsu no problem.

no guys. your' thinking about this all wrong.
Show her the safety aspects of the evo. show her the child seat hook points. explain to her the advantagous of AWD for slippery driving. And then tell her that your decision on car is that you plan on starting a familly someday and thought she would apreciate that.

Buy the Evo X for yourself, and get a used 3 or 5 series for her. That should cost about the same as a new E92 M3.
BTW I just read your post on M3 Forums. Even everyone there is telling you to get an Evo X. Get what makes you happy. Your GF will get over it. You could take her with you to a trackday, and maybe she'll even grow to like it.

I dunno how you could come to that conclusion. The 911 still turns quicker lap times. Porsche will never allow the Cayman(with an "A"
) to catch up to the 911. They could easily make a Cayman that'd wax the 911. The motor being more towards the center etc... giving the car way better balance, but it'd be suicide to make it faster than their flagship. When the "S" came out and the rags got ahold of it, they ripped on Porsche for not making it more potent, and finished the rip by saying the the big P would never do it because of the need for the 911 to be their fastest car. Both statements gave Porsche a coupla black eyes, so they came up with the best solution they could. The new 911 got more power, and a new kick-*** transmission, which put it even farther out ahead performance-wise over the Cayman, but it also allowed them to give the Cayman IIRC an additional 25hp over the prior gen. Aside from the Farnbacher Loles of the world shoe-horning the 911's 3.8 into a Cayman, and subsequently charging what you could buy a Turbo for, it's doubtful you'll ever see Porsche build a "911-Eating" Cayman.
The 911 will always be the "better" sports car. It is after all the definition of what a true sports car is.
