Thoughts on going from BMW 335i coupe to EVO X
i would stay with the bm and buy those piggy backs, mainly because i own an evo x and my sister a bmw 328i, wenever i drive her car its so different, it would be kind of hard to explain, but its so quiet its so smooth and corners pretty good, if your a cruising type of guy stick with the bmw , but if you like to go fast, take turns fast, go to track events, then the evo is for you.
I just read this before i headed out to school and i saw one at the lights, it was black and it looks so much better in person. It looks FAR better than the evo imo. Definitely a better everyday chill type of car.
I had a e46 m3... Granted it was a great car and fun to drive... But I feel like I cannot get away from the EVO, it just seems to have so much more potential for so much cheaper....
But you know, only the ladies that know what an evo is will sweat it or those with an open mind.... unlike the BMW....
I say go for it.

get the evo x, you will have such a long list of parts available to you not just the same tune, filters and exhaust like every 335 owner, tuning soon will be free with a tatrix cable or if you have someone tune you will be a lot cheaper than procede, for general maintenance the evo will be a little bit more often but much cheaper and for any mishaps like a blown motor you will be very happy when you can find tons of builders and cheap options with the evo, direct injection while nice is extremely expensive components that sometimes fail, and lastly if your daily drive the car the evo will be a huge increase in fun factor so its not as luxurous or the seats are as comfortable but you have neck snapping acceleration and short gearing, the bmws come on very linear and have way to long of gears,
now dont get me wrong my next car is either gonna be a 335xi or a evo x, but thats only because with the economy the way it is you can score a 335 so cheap while the x like most evos hold their value rather well- and i know i would like the fun factor of the evo x unless i could do shorter gears insantly in the 335

I got a evo x and my old man has a 335i and In terms of comfort there is no comparision however the livliness of the evo x stering is sharper and involves the driver more. But as a daily driver the 335i pulls harder it corners incredibly well for a car without a lsd and has that bmw balance you can dance with the car and always knows what is going on without being as beat up as in a evo. The track is where the evo shines with it's sharper attitude and more track oriented suspension but even for hard daily driving the bmw is the way to go 95% of the time it is a better compromise for most people and is easier to get in and out of. the sound deadening is also much better I say stick with the 335i. The evo I have as my daily but it is really meant to be a third car that is sharp like a m3 but not refined like the 335i. European delivery would save you some $$$ for mods is you are stuck between buying either car but that is not your senario.

To the OP, my vote is to dump that lease ASAP. Get whatever you like, but if you are in a purchase situation, you'll be better off IMO. In a lease, you're flushing money and have nothing to show for it in the end. Get a manual transmission car this time.
If you like to do trackdays and autocross, the X is super awesome. It really just needs a tune to be what I'd consider an almost perfect weekend racecar.
Had to jump in, because this is pretty much the most incorrect technical post in the thread. Why would you want shorter gears in a 335i? The inline 6 actually makes low end torque, and it can utilize the longer gearing. The gearing in the GSR is idiot short because it has to be, the car has no low end torque and its super heavy. Stock to stock, a 335i will walk an X at speed. If the 335i had shorter gears, it would not be measurably faster, but it would get terrible gas mileage. Cars nowadays make power. We don't need 1999 Civic Si gearing to go fast.

Since you already have a twin turbo V6..Stick with it! The Beemer is very nice, and interior quality is amazing. You may not like the cheap interior and some tiny rattles here and there in the EVo. Now, if you didn't have the BMW, then the Evo could be your choice since you didn't have the BMW to really compare it to. I miss the quality build of my Z, but the Evo makes up in the handling department only for me...oh, and the fact that now I have a four door which I really needed, not so much wanted. I say stick with your BMW since you already put money into it. Just being realistic.
