There is a Motor Trend or Car and Driver review against the two on a road course. Pick that up and give it a read.

(And no street racing...ever)

i was running against one on track. They run like the hooked up civic. They can be real fast in the hands of the seasoned driver.
I still doubt being faster then a X. Unless it is a human factor involved. But they are faster then you think. Dont sleep on them if you have a stock X with NO reflash.

^Read that Motor Trend. You may be surprised how fast that little Chevy is.

The Cobalt SS can beat a X. It is lighter, has great brakes, good suspension tuning and lots of power. I bet if you put a stock SS against a stock Evo X at the Texas Mile (one mile track) that the SS would win.

Interesting. I would not have thought that chevy could be that fast stock vs. stock.

I don't have an X, but I do have track experience against the old Cobalt SS supercharged. This was an open day and a bunch of GM test cars came out.

The red SS was the bolt-on GM Performance car. In this video, at the time, I had 315-320whp on my car. I don't pull away that quickly from it. I catch the car in braking and turn speeds.

The turbo version is much better in straight-line power and they sharpened the handling. I would like to get a run on one at the track this year.

About 3:30 into the video I catch him, pass at 4:30ish.

Thanks

Well compared to the other cars in my run group, he was my competition. I just scared the rest out of my way

Not to throw sand on the Evo X but I do have two different magazines in which the SS beats the Evo X on two different tracks.

Don't get this twisted, the SS was marginally faster by only 3 tenth of a second but I firmly believe the Evo would eventually get faster with a few hundred dollars mods and would get the true real benefit of its AWD system.

The SS even did very well at the Nurburgring doing some 8 min and low 20s, it has fantastic Brembo brakes, weights around 3000lbs and its chasi is one of the best for FWD. The Evo also has awesome chasi but it battles with the weight.
