Street-wise though, if you compare with cars like Caterham 7 and Ariel Atom, technology is not enough to outhandle the lack of mass and lower center of gravity.

The thing about track racing and at an 'ultimate' level, sky is the limit so you need to at least set some variants. If look at an E92 M3 'GTR' (its called something else) for example, uses a lot of stock-looking parts yet the car makes close to 500hp and weighs just over 2500lbs, and that is only because of the minimum required weight, I'm sure they could bring it down to 2300lbs easily without having any additional research. This is because the chassis/drivetrain/engine is totally different, at least material-wise.
F1 cars tires are a part of how they handle, but then there are so many other variables that come into play like on every road going car.

Chassis design, spring rates, rebound, dampening, ride height, weight distribution, wheelbase.

Though due to their very low weight, the biggest factor in how an F1 car handles is the aero package.

as it stands now, the EVO IX chassis has more track potential than the X..

At least in Time Attack - the HKS evo is still #1 in tsukuba..

That'll be true for any previous generation when the current generation car hasn't been out for more than a couple years

I think that is kind of an unfair comparison. That is like saying the Cadillac CTS chassis has more track potential than the Evo based on this car....

Spoken very well my friend! Any chassis has extreme potential when money is not an object! I think the dollar bill has the best potential for a race car!!!!

I found the ayc very usefull, The handling in the 10 is very tight, I found on my test drive. A good set of rubber can make or brake you though

Oh ya thanks for the reminder I completely forgot to think about the most important aspect lol, decades of ever changing rules on the aerodynamics and the disputes that follow.

Less than 2400 lbs! Wow. At that level of modification the car you started off with seems rather immaterial.

My opinion is that all Evos are great cars for people who like to actually DRIVE cars. There is a fine balance between valid technological aids and decreased driving /road feel in terms of final driver pleasure. The US spec IX probably has a bit too little of those technological aids and IMHO the X has a bit too many. I think it comes down to what you like. I love shifting gears, and if you've ever shifted a Ferrari 360 before the F1 trans became ubiquitous you'll know what I mean.

Driving is a combination of inputs from all the senses: the g-forces pushing you into the seat, the melodious sound of the engine, the tactile feel of the steering wheel grip / shifter, the clunk of the transmission, the vibration of the road, the visual landscape flying by, the taste of adrenaline in your mouth, the smell of engine oil... I prefer to keep as many of these senses busy as possible when I drive, if I wasn't interested in that I'd be driving a Prius.
