No 2009 Evo X for the USA. Confirmed by multiple sources within Mitsubishi.
Even though 2008 Evo inventory is still "new" as in untitled, its still not a new car anymore. Its a leftover from 2008. Some people dont want to buy a 1 year old brand new car. It has already depreciated in value before you even sign anything or drive it off the lot.
On the flip side, this could mean awesome deals. If you are one of the people that can haggle the price down, get good financing and plop down a good downpayment, you are going to steal a 2008 Evo. So i guess, it comes down to, do you want a 1 year old car, or can you justify it with a killer deal?

February 2009 and still no word from Mitsu on a '09 Evo. Well guess what, there will be no 09 Evo. Mitsu released the DE/ES/GTS in October 07 as an '08 model. The X in July 08 as an 08 model only because the MR was delayed. The Ralliart in September 08' as an '09 Model. It's safe to assume, if there was ever intention of an '09 X from mitsu then it should've been released late 2008. 2008 is gone and there is no 09 Evo. Summer is bringing a 2010 Sportback in GTS/Ralliart flavor.
I'm all up for a 2010 X!!!! Bring it on.

he must be a genius to predict the stopped production of the 2009 evo which on the link by motortrend, the mitsubishi insider denies it(rumour unfounded). if there isn't going to be a 2009 evo, their "halo" car, then this forecast by global mitsu shows a worse picture. there might not even be a 2010 evo?

Sam has sold infinitely more Evos than anyone else in the USA. I've met him and spent time with him, and he certainly did not make it up, its something he was told. So he just repeated info, because they move a ton of Evos.
There wasn't a 2007 IX either in the USA. But they sold off the remaining 2006 stock well into 2007. Look at this as a repeat of that event. Canada and other places are getting the 2009, but we have an ample supply for a good while.
Could they change their minds and bring some in later? I guess they could, sure. But with several hundred remaining on dealer lots and sales in the toilet in this economy, it would be the epitome of financial stupidity for Mitsu to bring more now when there are so many unwanted left. Its simple economics.

Re: 09 Lancer Evo
Good morning this is *********, I spoke to you this morning regarding the 09 Lancer and just wanted to apologize having provided you with incorrect information in regards to the production of the 09 Lancer. They are actually ceasing production in order to produce a more improved model for 2010. Again, please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

So with the 08's, I doubt they will try to raise the price, dealers usually don't go from selling a car from way below msrp, back to msrp because they won't be recieving some in a few months. And With the 2010's coming this year, along with the changes, they aren't going to be huge drastic changes like going from a IX to a X. I think at the most they will have more options available for GSR, such leather, audio controls on steering wheel, bbs rims, or two piece caliper etc. Also maybe a sunroof with the new tailights. That being for cosmetic changes, but for drivetrain, I think at most they will have a different tune, producing around 330 or so(since the stock tunes runs so rich) and maybe a six-speed tranny, but thats a big maybe in my eyes. I dunno, I don't really see huge changes coming, but some small refreshing yeah. Thats what I think. My .02.
I don't care for deals - I just want to see all the teething problems FIXED and a bulletproof car.
No gas in the engine oil (at least not enough to smell gas, as reported)
No Recaros that tear up (better Recaro leather seats are welcome)
No shakes rattles etc in the interior (use more foam under rattle prone areas)
Better gas mileage (better factory ECU tune)
No hesitations at any rpm (better factory ECU tune)
Better warranty (at least 4 years, 50k miles)
When Mitsu has all these sorted out (2-3 years?) I can consider it.

Better interior plastic (think Accord interior materials) 30 more horses and I'm set. what about 2.5l?
but agian, that might also be an extra bump in prices just bcuz :-/
hmmm, aren't the newer models supposed to have a stronger transfer case (can handle 590 ft/lbs) and ACD sourced from GKN Driveline Components?
