GSR and MR roadcourse, laptime diff.

Does anyone have, or know the lap time differences between the GSR and MR? Lap time differences at tracks like Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow, Thunderhill, or perhaps on another track somewhere else.. Thanks..

I'm assuming he said that because of the decreased shift times and better brakes. That said, there probably won't be much difference.

there has been a couple tests done by magazines. I don't have the links, but the MR was a bit faster. stock vs stock.

I think it also depends on the track. Some tracks I'm sure the MR will be slighlty faster then the GSR but on some other tracks, the GSR might be a little quicker, due to the fact of less weight and stiffer suspension. Thats what I think.

This thread is the first spot I have ever read the MR is faster than the GSR. The GSR consistently pulls faster laps from everything else I have read. The GSR's avg G's is .99ish and the MR's is .93ish and the GSR weighs less, brakes will not offset that.

And this is on any track.

Every test I've seen of the car shows the gsr to post better acceleration, grip etc etc
But have a marginally slower lap time on any given course.
I don't know where murlo's getting his info
Here's one off the top of my head

This is the Streets of Willow though

I think it will come down to two things: is this a standing start lap a'la Top Gear and/or how curvy is the track. A non-shift-intensive track will tend to be equal, but a shifting intensive track will start to lean to the MR.

The extra weight and softer suspension of the MR and the inability of the SST to cool itself really are major issues *to me*.

I could be wrong I guess, I don't have anything to reference right now, but just by you saying it has better accel, better grip and is lighter, you would think it would be obvious, I would think it would have to be a lot of shifting in order to offset that.

On a tight course involving a lot of shifting MR might come out on top, but usually it is slightly slower than the GSR.

Here is a BM comparison that was done over a year ago on Ebisu and Tsukuba.

Despite that link supporting what I said, those results look wrong, it has the SST faster in 1/4 by quite a bit, which we know isn't true, and it shows the 1/4 for the GSR in the 14.0's, no way, lol. I think this was probably a pre production one with a really really bad tune.

Lol, true. The production would just be a really bad tune, as opposed to a really really bad tune, which is even worse. I just know that many mitsu reps told magazines and other media that many test's done were done using pre production cars with beta tune's etc. that weren't fully finished. I am assuming this is along those lines.
