Anyone regret trading in their IX for the X.

Hi, I just want to know if I'm the only one who regrets trading in their IX for the X.
When I first got the evo x I was real excited(Got the car in april 08). I had no regrets for my purchase.
After owning the car for about 4 months I had all my syncros replaced under warranty due to horrible 3rd gear grind (took about a month before I got my car back). After I got my car back I had trouble getting the car into reverse, and it will also have a horrible grind (Loud enough to be heard out side and inside) when trying to put the car into reverse. I have to wait 3-5 secs and put it into reverse slowly for it not to grind. I did not have this problem before my syncros were replaced.
When my car is of I can't seem to get it into 3rd and 4rth gear no matter how hard I try(Is this normal? shouldn't I be able to get it into any gear when car is off?)

There also seems to be a problem with my 3rd gear again. Most of the time when going into 3rd the gears seem to be colliding and makes a pretty loud sound. (loud enough for my passengers to ask me what it is.)

My engine oil also reeks with gasoline, I had both flashes but its seems to be getting worse(had my oil changed after my second flash from the dealer)

I have some mods on my mind that I want to order but I feel like my engine and tranny are about to go. Engine has started to make weird noises, and a lot of clunking sounds coming from my tranny.
I have 7k miles on my car and about 1k has bin spend on trips to the dealer.

Sorry for my bad english but I'm really starting to miss my evo IX.

Thanks for reading

That sucks man. Sounds like you got a lemon... (I don't have an X - waiting till the 2010 models are out to make the decision as to what ride I want).

In the past, I've thought of giving up my Evo IX for a X.....But I still never strongly considered the X enough to make a move. Don't mistake me, but I'm selling my Evo IX to get more of a family car that will please everyone in my household. The X is nice, but I never have developed strong feelings for it. Now, I like my IX so much that I may change my mind in selling it......It's just that special of a car to me. By the way, if I by chance ever think about getting a X in the future....I will think twice because of your very helpful thread. Thank you.

I'm really trying to love the X.
Almost forgot. I almost lost control over the car while I was taking left turn(going at a speed I always do) because the car shut of the traction control during the turn what the hell is that all about? The whole rear end came loose.
I feel like some thing is going to give if I drive the car the way its meant to be driven.

Defitnetly got a lemon dude. Sorry to hear about that..
CA has some tough lemon laws. You should take advantage while you can. And have that car replaced with another.

No regrets here. I really liked my 9, but I love the X. Its the complete package, not single minded on raw performance like the 9.

Sorry to see you got a bad car though. Mine hasn't given me a single issue. Shifts smooth as butter once its warmed up a bit.

I start getting the feeling most of the GSR owner would be better off with the MR.
For various reasons...

If you have an Evo VIII or IX and you are happy with, that's great. Don't post in this thread, as its off topic.

I don't know if what I'm about to say...should make you feel better or me worse but...basically a lot of the issues you explain on the first post I have "spot on"... my car is only 100 miles in !! and one week old... but....you also gotta understand it's a "High Performance Car" meaning that there will always be some small "bugs" but that's all they are ....like once my car is warm or if I rev high enought 3rd gear is perfect ....I did have a IX MR and there was also some bugs on that car

I traded in my VIII MR for an X MR earlier this week... I haven't slept well at night, and when I look at my new ride, I wonder what I was thinking... When I get behind the wheel, I am reminded of all the things I loved about my VIII... And when I fire up the X and go for a drive, all of that starts to melt away as I bask in the little creature comforts I went without for several years.

Yes, my VIII was nearly 375 whp, but it also beat the living tar out of me every time I took it for a casual ride. Since I'm still under 300 miles on my new ride, I haven't really put the spurs to her, but from what I have explored of the performance envelope, I really like. When I get going for a long drive on the slab, I glory in having cruise control (I always ended a drive with cramps in my right calve from trying to maintain speed), and to be able to hold a conversation at a reasonable speaking volume is something that I'd forgotten about long ago.

In the end, I gave up a car that I'd spent a good long time loving, but think I'm warming up to a little more every day.
