So I went to the car show in D.C. and...
The blacks come out way better than any other TV I've ever seen in my life. Yeah yeah, I know it's a DLP, but for the price and its size...THE BEST.
It's too bad Mitsubishi doesn't have the respect and presence that they should here in America.
Well, the Evo X has been out for over a year, the concept longer than that. Meanwhile, Hyundai has the new genesis line that everyone is gaga over, so understandable really. The Evo had its draw last year.
Mitsu is at a crossroads....the new changes to the Eclipse are steps in the right direction IMHO and the new concept looks great.
Here is the rub....the best selling Mitsubishi this year? the galant. Just like most of us would never buy a corrola, most of us on this BB don't like the cars that most of the public buy...most never go to car shows.
Mitsu has to combine is market from the young/sporty car crowd (ie most of us) with the products for the "normal"people who are sheep and buy what they are told is great. Subaru has the same challenge right now. IMHO, Mazda is doing the best job of this right now.

right now mitsu's market is the reason it has such poor sales. and if this continues, there's no reason to believe they'll stick in the U.S.
you guys can't judge a car company's success based on one show in one state like their aren't 49 states which shows are held in. unfortunately, i missed the one in philly this year but last year there were people filled in the mitsu section crowded around the evo nine, eclipse and the evo ten. there were reps and aftermarket companies drooling over the x. the nine was so crowded i had to bully my way in it. i agree those who are interested in the x either have it already or test drove it. this car isn't and not ment to be a car for the general public. for the hundred thousandth time mitsu is struggling due to the economy. over a 11M ppl are out of jobs and experts forecast that companies such as six flags may close down in 2009. auto sales haven't been this horrible since 26 years ago. ITS A RECESSION
the new Eclipse is hideous, and there wasn't a soul interested in it. there's a difference between making strides with futuristic designs and making a space pod on wheels.

overall they're just not a strong car company, at least here in the states. the customer service, the designs, the poor sales, and weak brand image are just some of the reasons.
Even at import car shows the Evos get very little attention, I love the X and think it looks mean, but its a great buy because if its performance not because of its sleek looks...LOL.
I agree with the comment about the Cobalt, MS3, WRX or 335x, as far as driving impression and tunability (if thats a word
) they dont compare.

In other parts of the world mitsubishi sells very well. The USA line up does not attract much attention. And as was mentioned, these cars have been out for a while. There is nothing to get excited about.
That is the reason why I like cars like Evo.
Most people have no idea what these cars are all about in the states.
It is a sleeper in a true form, especially when you take the spoiler off.
You can give me a Kia or Hyundai for free, and I would be ashamed to drive them.
Most people don't know or remember that Hyundai originally was assisted and emulated by Mitsubishi to start their line. They are pedigreed by Mitsubishi.
Some might remember cars like Hyundai Excel, which was actually based on a Mitsubishi engine for the Korean company.
They might be cheaper, and better value, but for me they are just a compromise.
I would hate to see all of us driving Excels,Camrys, Accords etc.
What a boring world that would be!!
For me, I will always support car companies with independent thinking, like Mazda with the Rotaries, Mitsubishi with the Evos, Subaru with Symmetrical Boxer engines, etc.. Thanks for letting me blabber!
