used to happen to me in the beginning, but now I have adapted to the car. I almost never never have this issue now. The one I miss the most is the 5th now, because you need to push it so far up to engage. I leave it before it goes all the way because I think I have pushed it enough. In my opinion, a short throw shifter might cure my problem, but I almost never get a crunch anymore on any gear, maybe once in 2 months, can be any gear. Happens because I forget to shift it correctly.

Its worse when you switch off cars. I take out my Z for the day and suck at driving it, then I drive the evo the next day and have to get readapted...

i know that feeling. it's like learning to drive a car all over again.

but you get used to it after a while.

2nd is easy to miss in the X I have noticed... the shifter is very springy and you sort of have to hold it to the left as you pull for 2nd.

the shifter to the left as i pull down, i get that crunch..makes me cringe.

Yeah, you have to be patient and let those revs fall though, or you'll get that every time

I haven't driven my Z in almost 3 months... I can only imagine how embarrassing it's going to be when I get back behind the wheel.

the stock shifter is like rowing a boat. when you get a short throw it seems to make the miss shift issue WAY better.

Its funny that you guys are talking about this...I had the same problem with my VIII. Any other stick shift I have ever driven I could just slam through the gears but my evo 1st to 2nd shift just seems like it needs to be gentle.
