Trouble starting car

I think I mentioned this problem in the other thread about Evo X problems but anyways.. lately I have been having this problem of the car taking multiple cranks to finally start. Usually upon a normal startup the car cranks about 3-5 times I guess, but this morning and a few times last week, it took around 10-15 cranks to finally start.

It was the worst this morning, i had to give the car gas to finally get it to start. The car is parked in a garage, not outside. The previous times it happened, the car was already warmed up, it wasnt a cold start at all.

I think this is the 4th time I have had this starting problem..

Car is fully stock, 1400 miles on it, about 3 weeks old.

Anyone experience this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

maybe have the battery checked out at autozone? If the battery is good then check your plugs and wires....

Thanks, I think Ill do that.

Could it possibly be because the car hasn't had the second factory reflash? I asked on SoCalEvo also and one member stated he had the same prob before the flash..

I think I'll just go get it done.

The second flash will help, but mine still does it from time to time.

sounds like a battery or plug issue to me. Check those first

Good luck

a little off topic, but i'm curious - does everyone have the optima battery when they got the x? mine came with the optima group 35 red top and i was stoked - i didn't know until after i drove it for a month and started modding it.

That's what the dealer uses to replace a dead battery.

in another thread someone said it was because the FastKey system was having issues communicating so it took longer to start

really...well, works for me while not lightweight by any means, they're probably the best dry-cell batteries i know.

Mine did the same thing yesterday and once it started the exhaust really smelt bad...Could it be a fuel pump issue?

This problem happened to me 2 days ago and this was my second time since the last time. The first time this happened to me was at 5400miles and this time it was at 6600miles. I don't know if it's the weather doing this or plugs, or battery.
