Silly person, i am a mitsu lover and it saddens me that they dont market properly and they didnt make the X different enough from the lancer.. there are so few mitsu dealers left around.. i want my next car to be an X. But i want mitsue to improve their brand image

I also kind of wish that the current X would look different from the regular lancers, like the evo VIII and IX did. But i still think that the current evo looks badass ....

Yup the current Evo is the best looking but the current lancer is also the best looking lancer too many average consumers think that the EVO looks like the GTS and ralli art lancers.. Its like there is no way you would mistake my 323 for an M3 ever.. mitsue should have done the same.. but its not just the evo its the brand mitsue need 3 good cars in the three main segments to regain the brand respect it used to have.. that will lead to even more EVO sales going forward.

Yeh most BMWs are boring except the M cars and ones with the twin turbo six..

If a person didn't don't buy an X as it can be mistaken as a base lancer, then its the issue with the person, & not Mitsubishi.

The evo has always been a lancer since the 1st generation.

I can name many more great cars that looks more like their a less sporty sibling, Like the Golf GTi, Civic Type-r, last gen GT-R, BMW M3, RS4 & basically all AMG models, & most of these owners have no big issue with looking like their "lessor" cousin, or feel the need to stand out.

Its sadden me that its mostly STI & Evo owners (& would be owners) that likes to sit on high chair, & making the noises.

Think about it, if Misubishi make a complete new model, with a new interior & Shell from the "lessor" Lancer, you think it will still retail at the current price. My estimation is 10-15k more than the current price. Is it worth the 10k or so worth the "exclusivity".

If you're waiting to buy an Evo because of "brand image," I think you missed the point of the car.

i fall into the category of people who do care about standing out (looks and performance-wise).... otherwise, why pay the huge premium over the "lesser model"... i have had 2 AMG models, and two Audi S models... and trust me, they stood out plenty in a crowd of plain C class and A4/A6 models. so the German companies do make a good effort of justifying the huge premium in price. as far as Japanese models, the performance aspect is just fine, but the looks can definitely use more effort. i agree with some of the comments here - the X looks very similar to the base lancer, and identical to ralliart.... while it should stand out dramatically from either model

I just want to make it clear this is my first Evo. Now what I don't understand is how so many people on here can say that they can't tell the difference between a regular Lancer and an Evo X?

I personally think it's harder to tell the difference between an 8/9 Evo and a regular Lancer of the same years. IMO they look almost exactly the same besides the spoiler and a more aggressive front bumper on the 8/9 Evo. Especially when people go wingless on a 8/9 Evo, you can't tell from the back.

On the X, the big buldging fenders, rear diffuser, fender vents, huge black grill and wing should easily give it away. Even if you go wingless on a X, those fenders are just unmistakeable. When it comes down to it, as far back as the Evo 8, none of them have looked dramatically different than its baby brother.

Of course this is only my opinion, so blah.

There is a guy in my area who has a new lancer fixed up to look like an EVO and I can still tell it's not an evo.

I don't understand it either. I think some people just need something to complain about.

Its easier to tell the difference between the Evo X and 08 lancer than for example an A4 or S4, a Impreza and a Sti, c300 or c63

These 3 cars just of the top of my head and they all have like a 10-20K price difference. Im sure there are more but I think I proved my point. Take a look at the difference between a base lancer and an evo in case you guys forgot.

seriously, we really dont need to be complaining.
