Top 40 new cars: Evo X #8
I just want to make it clear this is my first Evo. Now what I don't understand is how so many people on here can say that they can't tell the difference between a regular Lancer and an Evo X?
I personally think it's harder to tell the difference between an 8/9 Evo and a regular Lancer of the same years. IMO they look almost exactly the same besides the spoiler and a more aggressive front bumper on the 8/9 Evo. Especially when people go wingless on a 8/9 Evo, you can't tell from the back.
On the X, the big buldging fenders, rear diffuser, fender vents, huge black grill and wing should easily give it away. Even if you go wingless on a X, those fenders are just unmistakeable. When it comes down to it, as far back as the Evo 8, none of them have looked dramatically different than its baby brother.
Of course this is only my opinion, so blah.

I.E. Front fascia, hood, roof, rocker panels, wing, fender flares, rims, rear door, back bumper, brembos and the list goes on, however the interior is almost a match! Then again, it's a (Lancer) Evolution, a Lancer in it's Evolved state! When we work out our internals don't change dramatically but our physical shape alters much like the EVO, Mitsubishi did a great job on this car!!!
Its easier to tell the difference between the Evo X and 08 lancer than for example an A4 or S4, a Impreza and a Sti, c300 or c63

These 3 cars just of the top of my head and they all have like a 10-20K price difference. Im sure there are more but I think I proved my point. Take a look at the difference between a base lancer and an evo in case you guys forgot.

but i forgive
from the side, its easier, cause the big wheels and red brakes stand out...
but from the front, again, unless u spot, the thin aluminum strip going around the grill, u have no clue whether its a Lancer, Evo, or Ralliart.
all im saying is that
could have done a better job for the 10th evolution... they did a lot with the suspension, the AWD system, the engine.... why not do more with looks... more than just taking a base lancer and adding thin aluminum trim around the grill, and adding a black plastic diffuser into the back bumper. common!
i think the new lancer (evo or not) was the best/biggest redesign of a small econobox any company has achieved.
when you look at either one you don't think econobox. it doesn't look like a neon/small hyundai/civic/corrolla ect.

im not saying anything in "absolute terms"... im just stating my opinion - when i see a 2008+ Lancer driving ahead of me, from the back, i couldnt tell if my life depended on it, whether its a base Lancer or the Evo X... only if the car is close enough and i can see the dual exhaust... on the IX, I could never make that mistake.

The only thing the two have in common is the headlight housing and the position of the
. Everything from the grill, bumper, hood are completely different.

Now the back, the rear diffuser and dual exhaust tips sets the two apart. The diffuser makes the evo look much lower and makes the trunk look much more compact. It really makes a huge difference. And of course the SSS wing would give it away.

I will admit the new gen lancer can be easily made to look like a real evo unlike the old gens. But seriously, its not as bad as a lot of other cars that I showed before where they are almost look identical (c300 and c63, a4 and s4, 2.5rs wrx and sti)...we really dont have much to complain about. Also the Lancer was just competely redesigned. Mitsu wasnt going to design two cars from the ground up when one is basically an upgrade of the other. We really dont have it too bad considering we didnt spend 100K on a car that looks like its a 20K car...here are some more examples that are worse.
which one is the V?

you can even say the boxter looks like the 911 gt but who are we kidding lol most porches kinda look alike thats their style

how bout a 2.5 subaru legacy that looks like the 2.5GT?

seriously the list goes on and on and on

If you showed a DE or ES Lancer instead of GTS it would really be a big difference. I still think Mitsu tried to make the lesser Lancers look more like Evos for the X, then they did for the VIII and IX. I think you totally have to be a non-car person or just in denial or just trying to **** somebody else off if you say you can't tell the difference between a 2003 Lancer ES and a 2003 Lancer Evolution VIII.
I also believe the Germans are making their cars look more like the top models. Go back and look at an old e30 M3 or an M-B 190E 2.3 16 and you'll see what I mean. Both of those cars look like they are "Evolution" versions of their base cars, and M-B actually used that name.
