CBRD wins the least expensive power mod award...
hee he
jk...
we decided to put our X on the dyno today...
with an mbc and simply tightened the WG actuator rod...
findings were interesting and impressive...
at 1 psi less than the last time we dynoed with the mbc set to 22... we made 40more whp, and the same wtq..... but the power band is broader up top...
peak boost is alot later, but the torque doesnt suffer really at all regardless...
so it was....
229whp/252wtq at 21.8 psi
now..
276whp/251wtq

this was one turn on the rod,
i would try a half....
then one..
boost hits late, but the torque isnt lost....and the gains are amazing up top, car feels great on the street, smoother too.

remove the strut tower brace... (all 14mm)
remove the heatshield on the turbo (all 10mm)
wiggle it out of the engine compartment
there is a rod going to the hotside of the turbo with a clip on it...
loosen the 12mm nut on it... take the clip off, pop the rod off of the pin...
and tighten it a turn...
put back together.

One quick question regarding the definition of "tighten". I assume in this context, "tighten" means "pull the wastegate actuator and wastegate valve further into the closed position", rather than "turn the rod clockwise".
Or I suppose, "turn the rod clockwise" and "pull the wastegate shut" could be exactly the same things.
I need to look at it tomorrow, this may become a stupid question after I look at it.
