Honestly, the butt dyno tells me the performance gain by doing this is major, this mod has been done for 20+ years on turbo cars. I would feel alot better knowing my AFR and P.S.I. But, I'm pretty confident that if there were any major issues with either I would be seeing a check engine light. Again, I have my adjusting rod wound ALL the way in.

You have been messing around with your wastegate preload without a boost gauge in the car? Uh, yikes.

It would be interesting to see the turbine inlet backpressure near redline on the car with the WG loaded like that.

I remember with my 8 turbo it makes much more power near redline at 21psi than it does at 25psi because backpressure would build to 45+psi. Sure boost would be higher and the charge is more dense but air wouldn't move.

Anyone know if the X turbine housing uses guide vanes or is it the same category as it's older brothers?

Also, if you wind it in enough, you are limiting the travel the the internal wastgate "flapper" can open, resulting in less, if any boost taper.
I know that the it doesnt actually spool slower but having a higher load actuator does seem to push peak torque higher in the powerband by a couple hundred RPMs. I noticed this at a dyno day almost a year ago when a freind and both dynoed. We have the same mods just different brands. Except I have the FP Act. My car made peak torque later then his put made almost the exact same numbers. He had a few more ftq then me but I had more hp. I thought it was a coincidence. but the graph that CBRD posted shows the same thing. Im sorry I used the word spool, I meant it moves your power band higher in the rev range.

No worries, at least you went to the dyno to find out.

I tried this...it seems like it made a little difference but I still get a nasty boost spike....I can't seem to duplicate the nice clean boost curve.

Thanks...That would be great.....can you post the map with smoothing @ 0? I would like to see what the actual curve is. I am trying to get to the dyno tonite to compare....

ok guys...

learned something interesting.....

dont put the boost pick up on a t fitting with a restrictor pill for a boost gauge LOL!

thats why the curve "looked" weird...

i tested it back to back, restricted and not...... and it just moves the peak boost over on the chart.... when its dampened...

i did an intake test...

see the thread in this forum.

Did you make a run with the wastegate actuator wound all the way in? If so, what was the constant AFR? What was the peak boost?

OK GUYS READ!!!!!!!!!!

I hooked up a boost gauge and I'm getting a boost spike around 27 P.S.I. which tapers to around 23 P.S.I. at 6000rpm and drops to 21 from 6000rpm to 7000rpm.
Again, I don't have a manual boost controller.

I'm taking this bad boy to the track this weekend. 12's for sure.

I still have to hook up my WB O2 to measure AFR.
