Can it add hp with just tightening the rod without the mbc?

Nice find. Like you said, the max torque surprisingly doesn't come later even though boost does. MMMMMM good find Chad.

tighten..... as in take the clip off, loosen the locking nut and turn the end clockwise.... to create more tension on the WG.

ours popped open at around 19psi when we tested it.....

the test was with MBC to tightened rod w/mbc..

the car made less power stock.

That is pretty amazing. I will give it a shot on our car this week and let you know if there are gains too. Very cool. Nice find.

This doen't make any sense. Why does the boost come on SO much later? Also, how did the torque still peak at about the same rpm as it did with the old boost curve. Usually the torque curve pretty closely follows the boost curve. I'm perplexed.

I wouldn't do that without tuning software. The WGDC maps in the ecu are meant for stock wastegate spring pressure. This could cause dangerous overboosting.

hmm now with taking that into consideration, i don't think i'll try it. lets see what kind of luck other people have with it first.

Dave B and i were discussing this earlier..

the curve makes no sense... but as with any new package, nothing ever does LOL!

you would expect quick spool up and less drop off of boost, but it just didnt happen.

whats interesting is, on the dyno i was getting about 21 psi, and now im seeing a bit more (which doesnt happen normally with our mustang dyno)

im going to redyno the car monday, and ill let you guys know.

im curious what DB finds...

cb

as for the stock ecu boost.... i will try it.... not sure what margin for CEL/overboost there are in the stock ecu yet.

others might know, but we dont have software to tune them yet.

Funny, I did this two days ago. BUT, I tightened mine all the way no adjustment left. It made a HUGE difference. Also, you don't have to remove the strut bar to get the heat shield off, you just hve to use some finesse. The only other mod I have is a bigger MAF pipe, no mbc.

This doesn't make any sense. If the wastegate is tightened then why would the turbo spool slower? It should only affect what psi it starts to crack open and leak out boost. I'm really curious to find out what the deal is.

I found very similiar results with installing my FP actuator on my stock turbo Its like I lost almost 200 rpms of spool but holds boost longer throught the power band. 9sec9 said the same thing when they added HD actuator to OKIXs car with the green. Ive been puzzled by it more almost 9 months now.

The turbo definately does not spool slower, that is physically impossible (without changing the turbo A.R. or other properties of the housing, turbine, etc, etc). By tightening the wastegate rod, you are pre-loading the spring in the wastegate actuator, making it require more force(P.S.I.) to open the wastegate. Also, if you wind it in enough, you are limiting the travel the the internal wastgate "flapper" can open, resulting in less, if any boost taper.

I have not had a check engine light or any other warning set by doing this mod. 2 days and counting.

I do need to get my A** in gear and install my boost gauge and WB O2. If anyone else tries this mod and has a these gauges, please report the values.

Thanks for "taking it for the team" CBRD and Xcited. I'm sure a lot of us are following your posts here to see the outcomes of this mod. So far it looks very benificial.
