CBRD wins the least expensive power mod award...
You can do this mod if you have no tune. But if you have a tune dont do this. You will get a SES causing a bigger spike in boost. Expect to see the P1235 code if you do this mod with a flash. Only good for cars without a flash.
If you tune first then do this mod, I can forsee SES possibly coming up.
If you do this mod first then tune for it, you should have no problems whatsoever
Not necessarily true, it may depend on what order you do this in. I have this mod done together with a tune with no problems.

would this raise boost or just the boost taper? what if my ecu boost is set @24?
If you are talking about a mail in reflash, then the order in which you mod or flash your car won't matter. You would be equally likely to get (or not get) an SES no matter what order you mod in. Perhaps I should have been more specific. I have a custom tune, not a pre programmed tune on a flash

i havent tuned a X yet, but my assumption is that it will help holding a little more boost up top, without running excessive WGDC's through the stock solenoid.

All this talk about Boost and Butt Meter but has anyone checked the AFR's and put this to the dyno? -- I tried to find somewhere in this thread where someone has done it and maybe I missed it.
This mod sounds very promising but more boost does not always equal more power if the car is pulling timing...
I'm referring to the additional turns past the 1 turn mentioned at start of post...

we did test it on the dyno, afr's pulled up slightly, obviously helping with making power, because the car is pig rich from the factory...
and it held more boost to redline.

2 Turns - Min Boost at mid RPM was 22-23 PSI, boost tapers to 20 PSI @ redline
2.5 Turns - Min Boost at mid RPM was 24-25 PSI, boost tapers to 21 PSI @ redline
3 Turns - Minimum boost at mid RPM was 26-27 PSI , boost tapers to 22 PSI @ redline
3.5 Turns - Not possible in my car, which means mine was already a 1/2 turn tighter than most from then factory from what I can tell.
Basically the angle of the internal WG flapper was starting to induce boost creep on my car at my mod level. I chose to back it down to 2 turns since the mid RPM boost creep was just too uncontrollable. I noticed that even at 2.5 turns the boost would creep to 25 PSI in 5th at the mid RPM's which wasn't really good if I wanted to run lower boost at a road course. I also tested a direct boost line to the WG and got 15-16 PSI base then it creeped up to the mid RPM numbers above the same as when I was using the MBC.
From what I can tell the extra boost you get beyond 20 PSI at redline on these stock turbos is likely just not worth forcing out of the turbo. We'll see if I can get the same (or better) trapspeeds with 2 turns versus 2.5 turns at the drag strip after my clutch goes in.

I got tuned before I did this mod and I now have almost two months since I did this, no lights have come on, on the car.
