I could get 28 hwy on my VIII, 26 w/my IX and I'm lucky to get 23mpg with the X. An extra gear for cruising would really nice, but I didn't buy this car for mpgs.

Yes I'm a fool, obviously. Aggressive driving will get you *nowhere* near 270 miles per tank. My car is tuned with the Cobb AP and this is my normal mileage on my commute with a fair bit of idling in traffic thrown in:

On the track?

But who cares? If I wanted a car that got great gas mileage I wouldn't be driving a heavy turbo charged 4 cylinder. I'm not going to drive in a fashion that gets me the best gas mileage possible, I'm going to drive it how it's supposed to be driven. We're not driving hybrids here.

Just someone's opinion. Everyone has their personal bias and they have to find the flaws in the cars they don't want to like. These magazine types can't always be taken seriously...their pockets are being lined for good and bad press.

I got my X a little less then a month ago. I must say that the gas millage on this car is horrible....that being said..WHO GIVES A ****!

We didn't buy these cars because of their great interiors, sunroofs, 20 way power seats with lumbar support, low level cabin noise..etc.. We bought them because we wanted street legal RACECARS. We got them so we could mod the hell out of them and make them even faster! Anyone who even has the words "should get better gas millage" and "evo" in the same sentence needs to have their head examined.

I think I average some where between 14-18 mpg. I don't baby her one bit.

That being said, if I was concerned about gas mileage I'd be driving a Geo Metro.

Ok good points by all and exactly what I expected.

I didnt buy the car as an econo box either, nor would I have one as a second car. In fact, this just may be my last combustion engine car until I can buy a 600+HP eletric sports car in the future in which case I would gut this car and turn it into a midnight canyon runner but thats another story...

The point is, with sales on these types of cars down, and talk of them being unsupported in America in the near future, untruths being spewed by mags like Auto arent appreciated by the likes of me.

I love this friggin car, and all Evos in general. So it pisses me off when some hack represents it so poorly and with no scientific data to boot. Its bad enough we get all the crappy cars as it is. Im suprised we even get the Evo.

Thats all....

Ill go take some prozac now-

true that it's a performance car for the street, although I do get better mileage than 250 in my 335i but it's stock.

The 335i's fuel tank is also twice the size of the Evo X's.

Which also means they pay double at the pump.

My Evo X MR gets quite a bit less gas mileage then my Evo 8. Its not a big deal to me, I'm just a little surprise how much worse the gas mileage. I of course had the 5 speed Evo 8 and I was wondering if the gas mileage would be a little better with 6 gears now my X MR. The gears are obviously a little shorter now on the X MR. I think the X MR is basically at the same RPM cruising at 70 MPH as my Evo 8. I think they should have made the 6th gear quite a bit taller in the X MR.

Here's the entire history of my Evo8 with 6 years worth of fill ups:

Evo X MR, I only got it a little over a month ago:

Make sure to check out the Charts tab at the bottom of each spreadsheet.
