Ya I'm comparing the Yakima one right now vs that JDM one. Yakima's seem like its around 70$ and the JDM one comes out to be 350$..

+1. I have FCS soft racks that I used on my old car and they scratched the hell out of my paint. The straps are a hard nylon or something, and especially rub against the sides of the roof/above the door. The clasps are also metal and will hit the roof occasionally.

I'm looking to get the Yakima "StrapThang" rack. I'm just trying to justify spending $500 for a base rack system with surf and snowboard attachments.

You do know you have to buy the Yakima base rack system, which comes out to $350+, and then an additional $70 for the surfboard attachment, right? It's a nice chunk of change.

I just installed mine a couple of weeks ago. I don't have any pictures with the boards on there yet.

It's the Yakima base rack system and Inno Boardlocker surfboard attachment. The Boardlocker is awesome, definitely the best rack to get for your surfboards.

^ Ehh I had one on my old car and it scratches the hell out of your paint above the doors and on the roof. Although it's much cheaper and I love being able to put boards on both sides of the car...
