Current Evo X Owners - Did any of you upgrade from an 08 or 09 Lancer?
Not that I want to talk too much about my finances or discuss other peoples financial situation... But do you think it would be maneagable to own an EvoX with a 50-60k fairly secure job and another 50k in the bank? No debt or other liabilities. (just the normal expenses and 1000ish for rent each month)

^^^ haha. i can say that it is definetly possible with that.
I upgraded from an 08 lancer to an 08 evo. it costs SOOO much more. Assuming you are gonna get a gsr just remember to add all the following:
- $70 for oil changes every 3k miles + 1 at 1k miles. (unless you do it yourself. Also, buy your own motor oil from walmart and they charge like $50 for the change. saves you like $20 bucks... it's normally $90 for an oil change)
- Increased car insurance ~$200-$300 every 6months (depends on your plan)
- I just had my $15k service and it was $500
- You will need a new clutch probably somewhere aroun 15-20k miles. Add $1500 for that.
- You will need new tires. You can't put crap tires on an evo, so add $1k for that.
- Radar detector (trust me, this is a must have) $400 for a decent one.
- Parking... if you street park you aren't going to feel comfortable. if that's the case add the cost of a garage spot.
- It will cost you ~ %30 more per mile in gas.
- Add in the increased interest from loans if you don't get 0% for 60.
- Cleaning, you will undoubtably fall in love with cleaning your car. decent starter kit will cost you ~100.
- Lastly, and most importantly, you will drive the car every single chance you get and you will find excuses to drive it. this means you will add on the miles a lot quicker and so just multiply all the mile dependant stuff by whatever percentage increase you drive it.
And now for the catch... you won't care about any of this because everytime you see, touch, think about, and especially drive your baby you will have the biggest grin on your face.

^^ oh man, i see what your saying, i love the catch line at the end, but its gotta put a little damper on your excitement when you know the cash is litteraly spilling out of your pockets.
And i forgot even a couple more.
If you want to track it you have to buy a helmet for ~$130
then paid over $200 each for 2 different track days with instructors last year.
it's unbelievable the cash flow... oh $200 for mudflaps to fix the paint chipping issue.
(anyway, point is that adding all my car payments, car insurance, garage spot rent, and other miscelaneous items i know that i spent at least over $10k cash on this car last year. And that's not including gas an maintenance.)
Just keep that in mind. (although if you don't have to shell out $230/month for a garage parking spot that will save you $2760/year. lol)
Anyway, i wanted you to really see the realistic view of cashflow with the car. You can significantly reduce or change that by doing things like not driving it (but then why buy it? lol)

Pretty sure that's how I racked up 30k miles in less than a year.
