Can someone tell me why when setting the hvac to off air still blows out? I also noticed that if i have it set to off and have a cooler setting that it blows out cold air - does it turn on the ac without letting you know?

is anyone else having this problem? you would think off = off....

or am i missing something...

 

When mine is OFF it is OFF. For a minute or two after the knob has been selected to OFF it will still blow a little, but after a minute or so OFF=OFF.....

 

It's because your vents are open...

Have you never driven in a car before? As far as I know, almost all cars feel like they're blowing air out even when it's off. Unless you put recirculation on.

 

I believe it is a "blow through" system for fresh air ventilation. I think it mentioned that in the owners manual somewhere..... Or maybe i read it in one of my other cars manuals....

 

every car that I've been in has an automatic a/c feature that allows air to come out of the vents even though the compressor or blower motor isn't engaged. Its completely normal and in most cars cannot be disabled.

 

Correct, vents are open. Also, if you adjust the tempurature dial the tempurature of the air blowing through will change. Trivial, but true nonetheless.

 

If you turn on recirculation, that won't happen
