PRICING
- the MR is a few thousands of dollars more expensive than the GSR

MECHANICAL DIFFERENCES
- MR has a different transmission (GSR traditional 5-speed, MR dual-clutch 6-speed TC-SST).
- MR has Bilstein suspension with Eibach springs; GSR has KYB shocks (springs?).
- Two-piece rotors on the MR. Front brakes only
- MR gets 1mpg better for city driving (17/22 vs. 16/22).
- The MR weighs more (3658lbs for MR vs. 3517lbs for GSR).

INTERIOR DIFFERENCES
- MR has leather-trimmed Recaro seats in front and leather-trimmed seats in the rear. GSR has cloth Recaro seats in front and cloth rear seats.
- MR has a different shift knob (leather with silver stitching); GSR has a cheap leather "baseball" standard. The GSR has an optional all-aluminum knob and the MR has a leather/aluminum option
- Bluetooth is standard on the MR. The GSR does not have it as an option (although it can be added relatively easily and inexpensively if you DIY - there is a thread for it).
- MR has steering wheel audio controls. GSR doesn't (but can be added - see how to on this forum).
- AWC button is on steering wheel in GSR. It's in the center console just behind the shifter on the MR.
- Door trim and center console armrest are leather-trimmed on MR. Cloth-trimmed on GSR.
- MR has an extra 13lbs of interior sound insulation
- On the door threshold, MR has "evolution" scuff plates standard.
- Plastic interior trim pieces are black w/ gold fleck in MR, faux carbon in GSR.

EXTERIOR DIFFERENCES
- MR has different BBS wheels; GSR has Enkei wheels.
- MR has Chrome Grill and window/door trim pieces. GSR are flat black plastic.
- Side brake air vent (front quarter panel) is body color on MR and black on GSR. Same thing for the vents on the hood.
- MR has a different vent around the driver's side foglight. On the MR, the vent is all mesh. On the GSR it is fake mesh (no air flows through it).
- MR base model comes with F.A.S.T. key; GSR gets it with SSS package.
- MR has sizable red chrome 'MR' words below 'Lancer Evolution' at bottom right corner of trunk
- MR comes with larger rear spoiler; GSR gets the same in SSS package.
- MR comes with HID headlights; GSR gets it with SSS package.
- MR front grille is silver/light grey, compared to dark grey/black on the GSR.

Well this settles an argument my friend had with me he insisted the MR was lighter than the GSR.I'm seeing here that is not the case.

 

Need to know info.

I'm sure this is listed elsewhere but I'll continue adding more to this thread.

My 2012 GSR with SS has these new differences.

Bluetooth standard.
Audio mounted on the steering wheel.
AWC-Switch Mounted on the center console.
Piano black accented dash and not silver like the previous years.
Could be wrong but the door trim is a black leather-like material but I have cloth seats.

(Basically just another mix of MR options thrown in to SS GSRs for 2012)

 

Not sure if the 2012's have this, but with the SL package, there is a silver strip in the piano black dash trim accent.

 

I only have the SS package. (Fast key, HIDs, RF Sound system, Sat radio, steering wheel audio).

But I can confirm there is no silver strip in my dash accents. The only silver trim I see is wrapped around the HVAC controls.

 

I had a base model 12 and no strip. But my 13 has SL and it has that strip so I guess it comes with the SL package.
