Optima red top part number?

My Panasonic battery is messed up. I called the local dealer and got the run around, plus they don't have one in stock.

I really just want to buy an Optima battery outright, not from a Mitsu dealer, but want something that will plug and play and last me a good many years.

Anyone have the correct part number?

Thanks.

I recall someone posting they just bought an Evo X and got a Red Top Optima included. I'll see if I can find that post!

I've searched a lot.
Some of the cars have red tops, some have the Panasonic.
The Panasonics have known issues.

Another forum member got in touch with me, and the Optima that comes OEM is definitely a custom part.. Its Group 35, 700cca 90 reserve. I think it also has a vent tube, I need to read the PM again.

I need to find something decent.

I was told by the tech at my dealership that the redtop is the replacement battery should the panasonic go bad. I'm sure the dealership should be able to tell you the part number.

My battery died 2 weeks after I got the car. Took it back and they put in a redtop. I thought there was a TSB or something on this...

I'm gonna try for this tomorrow at the local dealer.
The Optima replacement aftermarket part is 35.

Noize: Hoping to get to this. Couple things you want to double check:

Reverse terminal ?
Location of posts.

When I replaced my STi's battery I had to make sure the posts were on the correct side (+POS on right) and where they placed the posts, some had them in middle. .while they had posts towards rear.

Goodluck. .and if things work out, please post the model #.Thanx

I am interested in that AMS kit, but I don't understand why its $130 less than the Buschur kit. I am wondering if its gel sealed like the stocker is and safe for my kiddos in the back?

I am also worried about a mini battery with the SSS package's FASTkey and the Rockford system. I don't want to be left stranded.

I was the same for me too. Well, more like a week after. The dealer should replace that battery under warranty unless they're being jerks about the claim. It is a know issue.

Mine had the redtop in it when I bought it. The red top is the revised part if you look up the battery at the dealer.

Local dealer told me they had to replace all the panasonics they had on the lot with the revised part (redtop).

I just called Optima and they say that the series 35 will indeed vent hydrogen if over-charged. They listed as ventable:

Red top:
78 - sidemount only, would have to have 'modified'

Yellow top:
D51 (or 'R')
D31 ('t' or 'a')
D27

Enjoy! That's straight from the Optima battery technician, not a reseller/retailer.
