A downpipe alone will net zero performance gains. If you're getting an O2/downpipe combo, you'll see gains but will need to get a re-tune.

only thing with that, wont taking out the o2 housing be a pain in the *** install? if removing the o2 housing and installing the combo pipe can be done without a welding or sautering than i can prob do it. but how much of a pain in the *** is it?
retune is no problem

A test pipe is probably the best thing you can do for under $300 for power. Some UICP will help too if you don't want to get a re-tune. It provides quicker spool and makes the car feel much better at higher RPM's.

I've heard the O2 housing installation is a major pain in the ***. I had a local shop install mine, I couldn't be bothered. No welding or soldering would be required, it's just difficult to remove all the bolts on the stock pieces.

$300 isnt much to work with

its barely enough for a tune. if you can somehow get a test pipe and/or a mbc and tune, then you'll see good gains. BUT if you just get a tune with a stock evo X you'll be happy...they gain a lot of power

so far I like my test pipe w/ resonator. If you could add a little more to the 300 you could get the tsudo exaust. Thats my next planned mod.

I would do IC pipes for now. Then, when you have saved more money in the future, get a testpipe back exhaust,

For $300, it's best you spend it where money is well spent. Get yourself a set of suspension upgrade.

Front and Rear sway bars is a good start.
