how to recognize evo x option packages from pictures
hi folks
while looking for an used evo x, i realise that some used card dealers (esp the non-mitsu dealers) are not familiar with the various options and packages. whats the best way to help them help me know what options are on the car?
i figured:
1) picture of center dash where stereo is would tell me if its MR/tech, GSR/SSS, GSR/Navi (reg radio or rockford).
2) picture of open trunk will tell me if its MR/tech or GSR/SSS (woofer).
3) picture of shift knob and e-brake will tell me if it has interior accy pkg.
How do I tell if it has Aero or wind deflector?

There's a lot of different things you can check, but I think the easiest and simplest might be just telling from the exterior:
- MRs have a shiny metal inlay around the front bumper/intercooler area
- GSR and MR wheels look much different, look them up.
- SSS package has a much higher wing than non-SSS.
- Aero Kit cars have a front air dam that is the same as the body color of the car. You can tell an Aero from a non-Aero even with a really low-res picture.
For Navi, you'd have to have an interior shot.
This is all assuming these cars are stock.

So to summarize, the easiest way to tell the various pkg just from pictures:
GSR: 5sp manual
SSS -- higher wing, woofer in the trunk
Aero -- black front air dam
Navi -- LCD instead of stock radio
Interior accy -- leather e-brake grip, aluminium shift knob
Wind deflector -- top of the door windows
MR: 6sp "auto"
Tech: sub in the trunk, LCD instead of stock radio
Navi: ??
Aero: color matched front air dam
Please let me know what I missed.

Keep an eye out for dealer installed Nav units. I had a dealer trying to sell me a car with the upgraded sound package because it had Nav. The car definitely did not have the RF speakers or sub (not that great anyway, I know
)
He also tried to swing the fact that he was giving me such a great deal on this MR because it had the upgraded seat package which was optional. He refused to acknowledge that this was standard on the MR.
There are some slimey ones out there, watch out!

I meant brake vents located on the fenders.
It only lists the differences between GSR and MR, but doesn't detail what to look for between the different options packages.
