on most cars, when you have the ignition key out of the socket, if you turn the wheel, the wheel was supposed to lock, right? i just tried to do that on my x for giggles, and to my surprise it just keeps turning with the wheel; the steering wheel doesn't lock! is that normal? i swore that i locked it before...

 

figured it out...apparently it doesn't lock until you lock your car, then after that you can't turn the steering wheel. hm.

 

try turning it to the left.

 

Mine doesn't turn at all after I turn the engine off. But it doesn't feel like it's locked. It moves maybe 1/4" but can't turn past that. It's like it becomes too heavy or something.

 

Could anyone try this out, and tell me how to use the steering wheel lock?

On most cars, once you shut off the ignition and remove the key, you can pull the steering wheel to the left and it will "click" and lock into place. But on my Evo X GSR, the wheels keep turning with quite a bit of effort, but the steering wheel never locks.

From another thread in the Evo X general forums, I found this post that states there should also be a read-out of "steering wheel lock" on the center display..

Just need someone to try turning their steering wheel after shutting the car down, to see if the steering wheel locks or doesn't.. tried locking the doors, as suggested above, but the steering wheel keeps turning.

It will lock if you turn it enough but the key/fob has to be in the off position. It wont lock if its in the acc position.

You just have to turn it a little more than usual to get it to lock but it will lock once you have the key nub in the off position.
