Upgrade my VIII or get a X?

I have a 03 105k mile VIII that is starting to get tired. This winter I'll have my wife's car paid off, then its my turn. I'm comparing & contrasting two options: buy a 2010 X or rebuild & upgrade my VIII. I live in the VA Beach area, and its not like there's a good shop down the street to do the heavy work. We also have Hall Mitsubishi which I've had trouble with in the past; not to mention while everyone else has been unloading their 08 X's at good prices, they want too much as usual. Little Joe's Mitsu is an unknown, but it would give me two options to compare.

I'd like to think that investing $20k in my VIII would make for a fun car, but there's a lot of uncertainties associated with that. A new X is appealing, but that's more $ and mods come extra $.

you would see literally pennies on the dollar, for that theoretical $20k you are considering "investing" in your VIII.

The X on the other hand, will depreciate as any car would, but will not leave you with a headache at the end of the day. If you are comfortable with the payments, trade the VIII in and jump on the 0% while its still around.

investing 20k into your VIII can basically get a low mileage IX

the 2.3 has alot of issues. Go with the X if you must have a new car. IMO 105k isnt that much. I would keep the 8 or do some 2.0 mods. Or maybe pick up a third car like a 09 Si for DD and use the 8 as a toy... lots of options!

Get a X. I live in York County and I bought mine from Little Joe's. If you've got any questions just PM me.

Buying a brand new car in this economy is like flushing your money down the drain. $20k doesnt buy a new X. Just thow a few thousand, not $20k into the evo8. Buy a nice used dd if need be.
