Navi HDD Swap Possible?

Was wondering if anyone had any info on the possibilty of a HDD for the Navi to be swapped out. I ask this, because recently my car was broken into and someone tried to ****** my Navi. They weren't successful so they bascially destroyed it. After I had the new one replaced through insurance I asked to keep my old Navi. They gave it to me and I was thinking about putting the old HDD into the new Navi. So my question basically is, will it screw with my Navi in any way? Like are the HDD's somehow linked to the Navi unit and only playable in the original systems they came with? I know most likely the software on the new Navi is the most recent so don't know if I would run into any compatibily issues.

I am also considering trying the hack on my old hdd and see if it would work with the dvds playing while driving. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks, AJ
