Question

So i test drove an MR and overall i liked the transmission. The salesperson gave me a 'oh crap' face when i told her i would only pay 33k for her 41.5k msrp car. I'm going back Sunday to test drive the regular GSR and see if the sales manager was willing to go that low. (they were about to close)

The kicker: The MR has 600 Miles!! I was told 'one of the sales managers drove it to car shows'. Is it just me or is this fishy? Is 33k too much - is this a used car? Who in their right mind would allow a new car to have 600 miles put on it?

I could use some advice....

I say less then 100 miles on a NEW car would be acceptable. Because with that many miles, surely it was the dealerships "Test Mule" to show all those interested in buying one (read-beat on!!) Or it was the sales managers ride for a few weeks. Definetly worth a discount. I think anything over 2K miles is considered USED.

Credit score is awesome, now they calculate your income to debt ratio and your approved! Good luck.

you do realize anything under 4995 miles is considered new still after that it has to be listed as used. how do you think dealerships get used demo cars with 6000 miles the mgrs drive them around town etc so people see it and want to come in and dealership has some used ones on hand they can discount alittle.

At 33K OTD, I would have picked it up even with the 600 miles!

So they wouldn't budge much on the MR. One of the managers said my 33k offer was ludicrous LOL. I test drove the GSR and felt i didn't really care about the getrag gear box, navigation, or leather.

My score ran as 783. They gave me more than i expected for my trade so i accepted their 33,500 w/aero and interior sports package. I got the 0% no problem. I was so high above the minimum that it automatically approved even on a sunday. I pick up this friday after work! I'm Northeast btw.

Thanks for the help everyone - i'll post pics when i get it.

I would be worried. I've got a 750. Mt wife has a 790. We were declined. The sleazy finance manager told me he could get me 5% (before he even sent my initial application through MMA) Dealers will look to max their profit. They will lie and tell you that you got denied. It happens all of the time.

Wow.. I had a similar experience, went to another dealer and got the 0% without any haggles.
