Reviews or Opinions on STRI gauges?

Hi all,

I am looking to purchase a STRI boost gauge for my EVO X to monitor boost levels. I typically use the COBB AP to monitor the boost, but it becomes a hassle to plug in the COBB AP for quick reference sometime. I am looking at the DSD SLIM II series from STRI.

I used AUTOMETER gauges in my race car, however I find they are sometimes a pain in the *** to work properly, fog up easily, etc...

I am looking for something bit higher in quality in terms of a gauge for my daily driver, along with a turbo upgrade in the next year or so.

I will be placing the gauge in the ashtray holder not to be distracting work properly. A peak and hold function is critical to me, since I recall easily any boost spikes.

Therefore, if anyone has used STRI gauges or has any valid opinions you are more than welcome to chime in.

Thanks all!!!

Did you ever end up getting this gauge? Does anyone have a STRI gauge that cares to comment?

I have a STRI gauge, 30psi one, even though i hit damn near 32psi every pull, lol.

I will post up tomorrow when i get my car back. New clutch is going in.

It is an awesome gauge, i love it. I am probably selling it soon for something that goes up higher though, need something that actually monitors my levels.

We had a bunch and honestly hated them, the stepper motors are terrible. They were given to us for free, and we still didn't use them!!

I wouldn't recommend the STRI gauges at all. I know a few people that have used them and it was always something...one thing after the other. You're better off sticking with something a bit more reputable.

^Ouch, I like mine, it gets the job done. However, it is kind of slow response. Meaning my car when going through gears can shift faster than that thing can go back up to 30psi.

I'll still post a pic or two later.

I don't see the value added in cheaping out on gauges. Boost gauges aren't very expensive and they are all in the same relative price range so why not go with an AEM or Defi?

I didn't think the STRI was cheaping out...it was just as expensive as the other gauges i looked at.

i have had stri gauges in my car for about a year now.. boost, egt and oil pressure.. the only problem i have had was that the egt gauge would move from 400-2000 every now and then randomly. i took the gauge out and moved some wires around and hasn't done it since. i like them a lot.. beats spending 1200$ on defis

I don't want to cheap out on a gauges but I don't want to have to buy one of those stupid controller units. I'm not racing I don't care about the functionality it provides. I just want one with a smoked lens, peak boost recall, black face, and white light. Anyone got any suggestions? I was looking at the Defi white racer but something about that outer ring with arrow feels cheap to me. I don't like the two tone of plastic and rubber, would rather just a silver outer ring.
