Dean - I would ring Dan @ TMR and see if they can help you warranty wise. Or at least escalate it to Mitsubishi

Tune or Catback wont affect the MAF - if you had an A/M filter then I could see their point...

I might be coming that way in Sept, but that's too long to wait. I heard, but have not confirmed that it's the same unit as a plain-jane lancer 2 liter so you might want to cross reference that.

did they blow you off for warranty reasons due to mods? mine even went out, this is a common pattern failure that will continue to be a problem. mitsu should fix it.

I think Mitsu knows about this problem - which is why there is a lot of SD code in the ECU to run without a MAF (from the MAP sensor)...

Russelm sent me link to it i got excited and oreder it then i relized its MAP sensor! :| they look similar. have to see if they can cancel my order.

Yeah they think that my tuned caused it to backfire and stuff sensor up.

With warranty, how long am i going to have my car sitting there with problem they will do anything to avoid paying for new one.

Yeah im still going to comaplin to Mitsubishi

Ok nevermind.

Did some searching and found the MAF sensor for sale at Rockauto.com for $129 (Part# 7450046)

Pretty good deal considering most threads on this forum are talking prices of around 200-250 for work done at the stealership. Just to put it out there in case anyone else has been having this problem and wants to fix it themselves.

I opted for the rushed next day delivery and it only came out to $160 after shipping and tax.

Hope this helps some of you.

I'm curious how long have you had your vehicles time/miles before your MAF went out? Did you try to clean your MAF? Q-tip and Rubbing Alcohol?

I have a stock sensor available with 4,000 miles on it if anyone needs one. I had to replace mine with a 4.0 Bar Unit because of my turbo upgrade. I am running over 30 psi on my race map and the stock sensor couldn't handle it so we had to upgrade it!
