I am officially an EVO X owner...Impulse buy.
I did notice a couple things compared to the EVO 8.
It's definitely a lot smoother and it's more forgiving compared to the 8. I love how the blipping of the throttle works on the new car. I just barely blip it and it rises 1000 rpms, just right about rev-match. It defintely looks meaner and has a more menacing presence. The throttle seems to be a bit more linear than the 8; in that when I put my pedal down..
I don't really have that big of lag compared to the 8. The gearing is definitely different compared to the 8 and both are 5 speed. I'm not to happy about losing that trunk space, but I'll have to deal with it. The one thing I do miss out of the older evo's is that I felt reallllly connected to the road. Since the suspension was so hard, I felt every crack, bump, curve. The New car, even tho the steering is just as tight, the smoothness takes a bit away.
Best analogy I can think of is....
EVO 8-9 is like that Dirty Hot Girl who can give you that crazy F. No manners...doesn't care. she's hot.
EVO X is like that same dirty girl but she had to go to boarding school and she came out with some manners. Just need to push her a bit and her dirty side will come out. She's a career girl with who wants to be naughty at night.

Although purchasing my X last May wasn't exactly an impulse buy, to this day... I have absolutely no regrets... for the first time. Bought quite a few rides over the years and always questioned myself "Did I buy the right car?" or worse, on one occasion was a complete mistake (after a couple weeks of ownership).
The X is so much more of a car for the price I paid... especially after playing with ECUflash and tweaking fueling/timing/turbo/MIVEC maps a little bit. :-)

Same thing happened to me. Stopped by the Mitsu dealer to just take a look, came home later that evening with a GG Evo X. Was originally going to get the black with Navi but went with GG and Aero since I don't need a Navi. Haggling wasn't hard since this was this February and they still had ~12-15 Evo's on their lot. Of course I had to go back the next day and have them give me a new battery as the one in the car wouldn't hold a charge anymore.

looks like I'm gonna watch the movie again! By the way, to the OP, awesome color choice
