I thought of trading my evo X for an 07 C6 vette. I found the perfect one, and would have sold it if they would have offered me 25k for it..... But, never really got around to it =\

My commute just got 20 times longer (from 2 miles a day to 40) so the X has been killing me in gas- I'm seriously considering getting the new 40 mpg VW TDI Golf when the new gen comes out towards the end of the year.

plus I need to ensure I don't lose my license with a quick car- too much time on the road now.

I traded in a SuperDuty for the IX. I say keep the X and get an older truck that can be easily afforded. The X should hold your family well - at least as well as the Tundra. I had an original Tundra and that was already a nice truck but the new ones are sick.

The SD was definitely our family vehicle as it fit 6 (we have 5) plus it has a massive bed when equipped with a tonneau and rhino is perfect to haul stuff around. We made many long family trips in that beast. Actually traded the Tundra in for the SD because needed more space (felt too cramped in the old Tundra).

My wife eventually got a Pilot instead of her G35 so no need to have 2 family-purposed haulers, plus the price of diesel shot up after the war and Katrina. Never looked back, but I do loves me a nice lifted SD still! I just have a little S10 that does its job for now.

I got rid of my Toyota p/u about 2 years ago because it was a third vehicle (and gas was pushing $5/gallon). I really miss it. I will get a "beater" truck when my business picks up again.

Doesn't the truck have worst mpg rating compare to the X? I just hate filling up at gas stations once it goes close to empty. Lots of $$$ compare to the VIII, IX or X. Glad you didn't do it.

Not too sure how this relates to the topic, but I traded my '07 TBSS for a X GSR. Although the interior is smaller in the GSR, I can still drive my family around; albeit not for long trips. I missed not driving a car; hence the reason I traded out of the TBSS. The Mrs. now drives a Ford Edge so we drive that for trips, etc.

Anyway, do whatever suits you. Just give it some thought first.

Those new Tundras are a lot bigger than the old ones. Also, all the crap can go in back under a tonneau. Still - I wouldn't do it, OP!

I'm confused how this will help your family too... Need more trunk space? Get an STi I would never ever get a truck, especially not a new one, unless I absolutely had to. Tow vehicle is the only way I'd ever want one, and even then I'd lean towards an SUV instead.

yeah... i'm not quite getting the needing room for the family if you have 4 doors either? Do you just need to have something to load stuff into?
