RE : BOV Flutter
hey hows it goin,
alright, this is going to seem like a complete newbie question but
i dont understand the flutter of a BOV or re circ valve.
From what i've heard, it is bad for the bov to flutter.
I love the sound of the fluttering though so,
if the flutter is bad, what do i have to do to make sure it doesnt happen for the evo x's, and what is the most popular brand of recirc valves for other evo owners out there. (do not recommend hks)
and if it doesnt matter if it flutters, please fill me in on either adjustments or a brand of recirc valve.

wait wait wait, you want add the "fluttering" sound? Or the "PSHHHHHH" sound? Because fluttering is hella bad for your turbo, it usually happens at part throttle for the x, although it is normal, it is something that most want to get rid of instead of "adding" more.

the best sound from the bov to me is when it blows out a pshhhhh sound but bounces
Get an open element air filter...problem solved. The sucking sound gets old after awhile though. However, the 'psssssh' sound you're looking for, it's more pronounced once you go the open element route. Just stay with the OEM recirculated valve.
This flutter that you like is compressor surge, not the BOV fluttering. You want more flutter? Get a BOV with a super stiff spring, you'll get plenty of flutter...not that it's a good thing
FYI, this is a common misconception.
The infamous sound that you typically hear on rally cars is the ALS (Anti-lag system). It is sometimes also referred to as a "mis-fire system".
Depending on the type, it may work as a combination of retarded ignition to create off-cycle combustion to maintain exhaust pressure and hence, turbine speed. Additionally, there are air-bypass systems that either divert air directly to the exhaust manifold or bypass the turbo and intercooler piping directly into the engine.
