Help! B Pillar Rattle squeak!!
OK I am sure some of us have this same problem. I keep getting a rattle or squeak ( what ever you want to call it) from the pillar on the Drivers side door. I have torn apart the entire pillar and seatbelt on that side along with everything next to it and attached. Does anyone know what it might be? I have search but no one has posted a fix. I am starting to think that it might be coming from the side curtian airbag in the roof. Suggestion would be great before I starting taking the headliner down. This thing is bothering the Sh*t out of me. Thanks

I have this but only on extremely hot days when my car has been sitting out in the sun all day (>95 F). I think it must have something to do with heat causing something to expand and rattle. I never have this problem when it's less than 85 out.
I have it too, and since it started a month ago, it is constant. On mine, it sounds like it is coming from the seat belt mechanism. Several people have posted that they have it as well, but so far, I cannot find any fixes posted. Has anyone taken it to a dealer for this problem?
Same here, I've definitely narrowed it down to the seatbelt mechanism button that does the rattling. It hasn't annoyed me enough to do anything about it yet. But there will have to be some sort of padding or felt in there to stop it.

Just to give a quick update. I have torn apart the headliner and the side panels I have droped everything off the b pillar and the side curtain airbag (including the seatbelt assembly). Looks like it might be a tack weld on the roof. Taking it in on Tuesday and see if they can find it. Hopefully it will be warm enough outside so it can be duplicated. I give you guys/gals an update with the results. I hope its an easy fix. Just a heads up for anyone removing the headliner. I had to take out all the seats and the center consel just to be able to get the headliner out without damaging it. If there is an easier way please let me know.
When I saw this, it revived an old rage.
my VIII has this curse too, but usually on colder days, but still a temperature difference.
I know its the seatbelt tensioner since:
it happens wether the car is moving or not, with the engine giving the car vibration.
You can frikkin put your ear to the B pillair and hear its coming from the tensioner,
raising or lowering it makes the sound raise or lower.
if you hear the evil rattle, pull your seatbelt all the way out, and it will stop.
Give the seatbelt some slack, and it will rattle.
best guess is the coil spring in the tensioner is rattling against some metal that has too little lube on it.

No thanks...I just need my car for driving with a little bit of enthusiastic acceleration thrown in. Hell, my ten is rotting away in an LAX long term parking lot while I work in Australia trying to come up with money for my next ride. it's not that special.
