EVO X MR Questions

Ok...... I have a pretty well modded EVO III that I bought brand new in 2005. Well im finally thinking of trading it in one a EVO X. I have a few questions.....

1. Are you glad you traded your EVO 8/9 for a X? and Why?

2. Would you recommend a EVO X GSR or MR and why?

3. 2008 vs 2010?

4. There is a used 2008 MR here with Navi. They want 35,600 for it and it has 6000K miles. has a curbed BBS wheel and a small scuff on the front bumper. What should I offer?

Thanks
Chris

here is my car.

2. it all depends on how far you want to take your car and whether or not you like manual or sst. mr max possibilities of WTQ on stock clutches is 320, after that you have to buy ssp clutches for like 2k bucks. Those new clutches will let you get up to 410 WTQ, which is still pretty ****ty for just spending 2k bucks. it is way less expensive to go gsr. Also, the same mods you put on MR will give way more WHP/WTQ on a gsr. with just a mod on the gsr i think someone got away with like 312 whp, which is like impossible with the mr.

4. not that big diff between 2008 vs 2010, deff not with the engine. i would assume getting the 010 would be better but thats just my $.02

If you're not into heavy modding go MR.

I just got my 08 MR today and Mitsu credit is giving 2.9% 72 months if approved. A 2010 would have been 7.9% APR.

Also remember that base GSRs do not come with HIDs or Fast-keys. They do get steering wheel radio controls, aux radio input, built in Bluetooth and black tail lights.

I got an 08 MR for the daily grind and don't have much money to mod. For the family it shifts very smooth. I got mine brand new at 0%, the 2010 don't offer that. Depending on your credit I'd take advantage of the 0%. I think the zero percent is only for a new '08 not used. You're going to have to talk them down to near 30, 30K for a used '08 if you're not getting zero percent. Good luck on your choice, but you have a great looking VIII BTW.

If I were selling my 08 MR I wouldn't expect to get 35k for it heck I almost bought it for that new...

Well there are a ton of threads just like this one but we won't bash you for it .

If you really like to mod and do power upgrades, which appearently you do, the GSR would be more for you. Like it was said already, in an MR you can switch out the clutches but then you can only get like 400 something wtq. MR is a great daily driver tho.

way too much for a used MR with 6000 miles and a CURBED BBS wheel and front bumper. They should be giving it for like 32-34 easy. Thats practical BS the dealers come up with.

Oh man i dont think the MR is right for you. The way i see your VIII, you might like the GSR.

Way to much money. I paid 29k for my fully loaded brand new GSR before rebate. With the rebate 27K.

I could have had a new MR with NAV for 36k two months ago...they had one of each at the dealer when I bought mine. I'd be thinking 31-32k.

Yes very. X handles way better. The X is a bit better build quality IMO. Seats are a lot more comfortable. The stock engine can be upgraded for a lot cheaper than an VIII and IX. Look at the 681whp ETS got on their stock block and internals. Just a custom tune alone will yield 70-90whp.

2. Would you recommend a EVO X GSR or MR and why?
It really depends on you. If you can be comfortable with 340wtq (without doing add-ons to the transmission) and ~400whp, then go with the MR. I'd like to point out that that's right now. A lot of companies are coming out with upgrades to the SST, just taking a while. HKS, Blitz, Robispec, SSP Performance, etc. If you need more than that in the immediate future, definitely go with the GSR. Personally I love the MR, I love the 6 speed, I love the paddles (I never drive in auto mode). I'll take an MR any day over a GSR. However there is still that pesky power limit. BTW SSP Performance has clutch packs that let you go up to 450wtq. But who wants to do that to a new car?

3. 2008 vs 2010?
If you need a sunroof and heated seats and heated mirrors, go with the 2010 MR Touring. If you don't, 2008 is just fine if you can find one. I got a screaming deal on mine. There weren't very many changes. It will probably come down to a 4-7k price difference. Is it worth it to you to say your car is 1 rev newer?

I paid 38k OTD for mine brand new (well 50 miles on it). Mine is an MR with Aero kit, Tech Package, Nav Package, and Interior Package. That is as fully loaded as you could get.

Hope this helps

You might be right, I don't think SSP Performance has said anything official in the max torque, just an estimate.
