Just bumping this for those who wanted to know how my first month with the 2010 MR Touring has been:
Mods completed last week:
AST 5100 monotube coilovers
AST camber plates
AST GT springs and tender springs
AST rear shock mounts
Fujistubo Legalise cat-back exhaust
AEM cold intake
19x10 +25 Advan RZs in gunmetallic
Works custom dynotune
Perrin shorty antenna
Potenza RE 050A Pole Position 275/30/19
Eibach sway bars
Mods to be completed by next week:
Do-luck CF trunk
Do-luck CF front lip
Rexpeed CF side skirt extensions
Rexpeed CF side vents
Seibon CF rear diffuser
Gunmetallic Advan center caps
The stock suspension felt really good for the street, but I definitely wanted a lower ride and something slightly more firm. The AST suspension monotube system is amazing. I have them set at 7/12 and the ride is just perfect for the street. I'm sold on the monotube design.
I'm accustomed to significantly more power than the stock Evo X so I had a moderate custom tune done at Works, to get me close to 300 hp and 300 lb/ft tq at the wheels. Nothing radical... yet. The added power is great but the way that power comes on is what I'm most happy about. Peak torque kicks in at about 3400 rpm and holds steady through 4600 rpm. The throttle feels much more responsive.
I went with the Fujitsubo cat-back because my MR is almost exclusively a street car and I wanted something that wasn't too loud. It is only 2dB louder but has a much nicer tone than stock. Quality component for those looking for something more low-key.
I'll post a more detailed review in the near future. I am extremely happy with the MR and am really enjoying the step away from the German luxo brands that had me yawning instead of smiling behind the wheel.
A few iPhone shots. Sorry for the low quality:

Dumping $100K into a W208 Mercedes CLK was the biggest auto related mistake I have made. I nicknamed the resulting project "Deathtrap". I like the E46 M3, but I would have probably bought a used M5 or current generation M3 before that.

E46 >3 is a b!tch to mod and you get no results, and why buy the. New M3 when you can make a 335 faster lol. BMW really messed up on that one.

You're doing a very commendable thing sir and having fun with it at the same time. Kudos.
I think we may have bought from the same dealer. Can I ask you for more comments on the Works tune and why you didn't go Turbo back ?

For friend's medical bills so...you sold gtr and bought an evo? How much it really helps? Evo isn't cheap. I would go pick up cheaper car than brand new evo. Idk, maybe that's something rich people thing.

Sold my GT-R which was paid for in cash to finance an Evo MR Touring. Hopefully that makes the numbers make more sense.

Works tune is great. Definitely go for the dyno tune. Car runs super smooth and has much improved power delivery. You can always check mine out if you want before going for your own tune.
Didn't go for turbo back because of my goals. I just wanted to build a daily driver street Evo MR without placing too much strain on the engine or transmission. I also wanted mods that could easily be swapped back if something went awry. The AEM intake+Fujitsubo cat-back + works tune got me right where I wanted to be fro a daily drier (300 hp and lb/ft torque at the wheels), so I focused more on the suspension setup.
I have a feeling at 5000 miles I'm probably going to add some more parts and go for another tune. I'm trying to exercise restraint, but I'm not too good at that.
